That's one of the MANY reasons why all this xxx thing is just plain bullshit. Our sites are considered to be of an adult nature...but surely aren't hardcore...so? All these people pretending to "protect children" with the XXX domains?

...it's sunday... let's avoid getting angry about this shit...

6. Do I need to give up my other adult domains in other TLD?s such as .com?
No, .XXX is a purely voluntary domain and you can continue to use your other existing domains . We expect, over time that .XXX will become the preferred domain name of choice by both the consumer and provider of online adult entertainment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I specialy like this part:

"We expect, over time that .XXX will become the preferred domain name of choice by both the consumer and provider of online adult entertainment"

I realy hope they did not calculate their whole financial plan on this quote.

Do they realy believe this shit? lol ...

Adult webmasters who are serious about their business have been labeling their sites using icra, rta and safesurf tags for a long time already. That way parents can prevent their children (who have no credit cards) from visiting your sites with 100% accuracy.

there's no need for some stupid .xxx tld to do that.

Besides, once .sex, .pron, .gay etc are approved, .xxx domains will be even more useless/worthless.

I know so many parents who have zero idea about those things and would not know what the hell they are. Dumb it down, .xxx, there you go. I never sent traffic to those orgs that just want you to link them on some pretense you are a "responsible" adult webmaster. Whatever. pfft.

gee I'm sure that works reallllly well. ::snickers::

If I link that page, it makes me responsible?

Sorry, but you want to talk about serious and responsible, use a .xxx. What is the problem? Why are people so against this? All you naysayers will see. The internet is still a baby.

We ran a poll around two years ago on a few of my sites asking if they knew how to block online porn from their kids. 94% of them said they didn't know how.

It looks responsible, but it's crap. It's just a tag to show other webmasters that you are trying to do the right thing and to justify putting explicit images and videos on a tour.

If we all really wanted to protect kids, every tour, banner and free site would be PG only. Explicit content found only in the members area. That would be the responsible thing to do, but it would never happen.

what I was saying... thank you...

It is not our responsibility to "protect" anyone's kids. I wouldn't even let my kid loose on youtube, let alone the entire net!

Instead of being negative, I am hoping that in the long run (xx years) this will make the wild world of adult internet more filtered and streamline the traffic.

and personally, I have so many porn/adult .com's, I am looking forward to scrapping a bunch for one .xxx.

change is a coming, gotta keep up!

in fact, too bad there won't be some gateway to .xxx with a paywall where we can get a cut sending traffic. That would be so awesome. lol

Their children, their responsibility. It's not my job to raise their children. If 94% of parents out there want to let their children surf the internet without monitoring and/or restricting what they (can) visit, than that is their choice, their responsibility. If a parent drops his/her 7 year old of at a shopping mall en comes back in the evening to pick him up... than that's simply a bad parent... no need to put any burden on shop owners...

1. you don't need to link to those sites to use those tags.
2. as a business owner you have 1 responsibility: to your business. To protect your business. If adding existing tags that identify your adult sites as 'adult' to your sites (at no cost) reduces the risk of government interference in your business, than that is a sound/responsible business decision.
3. Is 'hoping for a more filtered internet" a good business decision? Is 'asking large corporations to install filters on their operating systems in an attempt to somehow limit your bandwidth costs ($70/y for a .xxx that blocks access to minors without a credit card vs $8/y for a .com)' a good business decision? Is 'hoping for others to enforce certain rules on an entire industry, rules you have no control over, rules you have no say in,... in an attempt to somehow reduce your competition' a good business decision?
