yes, If you are motivated have an original idea or an improvement on an existing one. By original, I don't mean finding a new way to rip people off.

Assuming you are talking about adult businesses...
Things have been going downhill for years. So now is certainly better than in one year from now.

It does not matter what business or what industry. If you can do it better or if it doesn't exist you win.

gotta know your niche - preferrably something new and unique, know your market, have a solid strategy and be prepared to put in all the hours under the sun no matter what, if you tick all the boxes then go for it and good luck!

Sure it matters. Right now would be the worst time to open a video store, tire dealership, etc.

Depends on the business. If it's cupcakes, I say go for it...ASAP!

I'm involved in what was a small brick and mortar cupcake operation. We started about 18 months ago and have been growing ever since. Last Saturday night we sold 996 cupcakes at $3.50 each. Not a bad night

We're about to open a 2nd location, new production facility and delivery business. I don't think we're all that small anymore.

why? people can't improve on those? I seem to remember reading on here a new physical video store that was putting movies on a USB sticks legally. Solves the problem of damaged dvd's and a large storefront.

A tire shop? People don't need new tires for the billion or so cars? Impossible to offer a better service?

Heavily consolidated industry dominated by FACTORY OWNED outlets. Gone are the days where competitive prices from wholesalers are possible. How do you compete against a company making their own product when you have to by from them? Not very well and your future is controlled by them.

This is your example, a company that is just an idea? lol, "is a new movie rental concept yet to be launched" There is a reason it is "yet to be launched" ..... It will lose it's ass.

If indeed it does launch it will be by a large company that can saturate cities overnight. How does that apply to a person looking to start his own small business?

no need to be a pessimist. Many of businesses start from very humble beginnings with nothing more than a good idea. Mcdonalds, Microsoft, Apple, Portillo's, Twiiter, Facebook, to name a few.

It always is with the right idea, not so much with an average idea, esp. in adult right now.

But if your overhead is low and there isn't much risk then why not?

When it comes to starting a business with your hard earned money and precious time, being an optimist will separate you from both. I'm far from a pessimist. But it does break my heart every time I see someone toiling away at a "good idea" but bad business plan.

And for every one of them there's 100 failures or still Ma & Pa operations.

If I started in adult today knowing what I knew in 1977 I would been gone in less than 6 months.

Think of opening a business the same way a bank manager would or venture capitalist, when you ask them for money.

What's your idea, market, business plan, competition, location, experience, existing finance, projections, requirements and what's the odds on success. Then you might not need to ask the question that should never need asking.

You should know the answer if you're going to do it.

Is now a good time to start a business in Adult?

A lot of established players are failing. Why do you think a newbie will succeed where they fail. And what will you bring to the table that's so great no one else has thought of it already?

ok, so being optimistic about an idea that everyone else thinks is stupid or they don't yet understand is a sure way to fail.

People should stop having ideas, acting on them, and thinking for themselves. We can all give up because its too hard and requires too much money.

I get that right?

Come on no one is saying that. We are saying there is a lot more to a business than outward appearances. The absolute best way to know a business is to be extremely familiar with it.

One of your examples was McDonalds. About half of the stores are owned by former employees. Why did Corp McDonalds give them the chance? Because they knew the business. Your other examples were basically inventions and that's a different topic.

That's just what we refer to it as. It's a buttermilk honey cake, with maple chiffon filling and a maple bacon buttercream on top. That chocolate covered bacon on the top is the best part.

If you're a talented individual with something special to give the world, then anytime is a good time.

If you're a bum trying to find the latest way to squeeze a buck from someone, then don't bother.
