The only reason I could see them trying to get more tests beyond the TSH is just to see T4 and T3 levels. Either way, they're going to be low if TSH is high, so they are kind of pointless at this point. They might also be checking for thyroid antibodies to diagnose her with hashimoto's thyroidits (auto-immune disorder where the body attacks the thyroid gland). Treatment with or without hashi's is the same. Thyroid hormones.
