Would you buy a $69 Android tablet?

Interesting specs: http://www.eken.com/m009s/

It was up for $69 at some daily sale site.

Worth it?

The problem is that it might be too small as to be impractical...

Not worth it...

Why?

1) It will never upgrade from 2.2 android
2) 256MB is NOTHING for a tablet.
3) 800x480 is the current size of most 3.0 inch phones. It will look like utter shit! Take your current monitor and set it about 2 sizes down and see what it looks like.
4) No HDMI, no USB...

Some people love it... A lot hate it... Most are clueless to Android before buying it...

I'd wait for a few more revisions...

Probably not. I have a Nook Color and after almost 12 months, it's start to show it's age.

It's pretty slow compared to most other tablets out there.

I did buy the $99 Touchpad though, a bunch of them. Can't wait until they run android.

It would be tempting for me. I do all of my GFY posting from my Android phone. Something about twice the size might be nice. It certainly wouldn't be the same as a $250-$500 tablet, of course, but it might work well for many needs.

The Samsung Prevail has only 124 MB of built in storage and that's not really enough, but 2GB or 4GB plus the sdcard should be fine as long as you're not carrying a lot of video. Heck, for about $13 you could add a 4GB sd card for video or whatever.

Similarly, 640x480 isn't great, but it's twice what I have on the phone I'm using to post this message. That's also twice what the iphone2 had. So overall, the device looks like a perfectly ok low end device by standards. It should be fine, as it's speced similarly to a high end 2009 device.

Yes, I'm comparing it favorably to smart phones, rather than comparing it to desktop computers. For $69, I'm thinking you won't be doing heavy graphics editing on it, but rather checking email, posting on gfy, reading news, etc.

For $69 it's not bad, but I'd just prefer to spend more for something better. The $99 touchpad was the best buy IMO.

I bought the HP it was crap, got rid of it.
Bought the motorola zoom, it was crap returned it!
Just picked up the toshiba thrive 2 days ago, calender and contacts freeze and won't let me add any repeat events, it's going back tomorrow.
Going to buy an ipad, resistance is futile... the android tablets just don't compare

The HP Touchpad might have sucked for $500, but at the same price as an iPad anything is going to suck.

At $99 it's the best gadget deal EVER. Mine is overclocked @ 1.8ghz and runs like a dream. Can't wait to be able to load and dual boot Android on it.
