The way it works is they project ad rates 3 months out and base those rates on Neilson ratings/viewership, so yes CBS can charge a LOT for ad space on that show. until about the next 'sweeps' period (where the whole cycle starts over again) in about November. Sept-Nov-Feb-May are the sweeps/ad rates periods, which is why shows try to boost their ratings during that time, to boost their ad rates. pretty bogus, actually, as a show might 'boost' its ratings during those sweeps periods by having a celebrity co-star for an episode or something, then they charge advertisers based on that single episode spike for the next 3 months. LOL

The next "real" (economic) test of the show will be November, the next sweeps/ad rate period. the show has until then (about 8 episodes) to make it or break it.

Okay first, calm down it's only a tv sitcom. LOL Second, here's how (off the top of my little green head):

Rose and Charlie find out that Charlie's mom has been secretly re-mortgaging his property behind his back multiple times. He thought the house was free-and-clear (after all that kiddie tune money) but finds out he's got 3 mortgages. So if he's dead he leaves it to Alan, who seeks Mom's help, who.....

So Rose and Charlie find a homeless guy, already dead, on the street. Ever see Weekend at Bernies? They throw the bum in front of the train. After all, like Rose said, "It disintegrated like a balloon full of meat". Hehehe.....no evidence. DNA? Sure - but Charlie's DNA is so fucked by all his partying that a match was impossible...

Rose comes back to "observe" the family and judge their reactions to Charlie's "death", because Charlie isn't really sure, was Alan in on the mortgage plot? Maybe Berta, maybe the kid, maybe everyone....

Rose gets to continue to 'stalk" Charlie, thru his family, the family fights it out over Charlie's supposed millions, only the real culprit knows the truth, that he's broke....

Oh on and on man. It's TELEVISION. :D

Because 'Rose' said the body was a pile of hamburger. Was it really?. Nowhere was it said that the family actually saw the body. Rose is a psycho. Your reading into the whole thing too deep. Its a sitcom. Its Hollywood. Its not reality.

Since your reading into it as if it was reality then, Rose was the only 'family' member to actually 'see' him get killed. Alan or his mother didn't actually see it happen, nor were they in Europe to see the remains. It was assumed they saw the remains?. No one at the funeral saw the remains so they could spit on him one last time. You are assuming that the 'remains' were his. Who knows?. Rose is a wack job with a ton of money. She could have had anything cremated and then called it Charlies remains. She has done some pretty off the wall shit throughout the show's history.

There is a few lose ends that were not tied up.

For all we know, This whole Charlie Sheen, CBS and the producers could be the greatest publicity stunt ever pulled off. No one knows whats really going on behind the scenes.

Its Hollywood man, EVERYTHING is possible.

My point is the producers wrote the show with little to no leeway to allow Charlie a way to return in a logical way. If the situation had been that Charlie decided to leave the show to star in movies again, the producers would've laid the groundwork for a possible return. Something more on the line of Charlie went missing or had died under mysterious circumstances. That was not the case.

What happened was.....

Charlie was fired from the show.

Charlie publicly insulted his boss.

Charlie told the world the show was nothing without him.

Charlie said they would hire him back.

The producer put a message at the end of each show basically saying how much Charlie sucked.

The producer would not and still won't take Charlie's calls.

It is my guess that the producer has taken the position that Charlie will never be a part of Two and half men as long as he is in charge.

I think the funeral scene was symbolic for the way the producer felt. What better way to show Charlie just how much he cares than to have him run over by a train, everyone wanting to spit on his corpse and then have him cremated with no chance to return.

That episode was way more about burning personal bridges than plotting a clever return for Charlie. It was the ultimate GFY

That's my prediction, archived here for later reference when the whole thing is said and done.

No surprise whatsoever. Episode 1 (and 2 most likely, as they're a 2 part set) was a given for ratings.

The real test will be episodes airing from mid-season on, and also how many tune in to NEXT season (if there is one).
