Anyone here using Square Up for an offline business

So simple to setup, quick shipment of the free card reader and works really smoothly with android or iphone. Always nice to find something new that actually delivers what's advertised.

Yep. Love it.

You can pick up the little plug in readers are Target for under $10, and get set up instantly.

I tried it for my local business but it declined too many cards. I had to go back to a regular merchant account.

We used it at our booth during the Folsom Street Fair, worked great! We Pre-loaded a couple of iPads with our products and it was easy to invoice directly on the screen, let them sign with their fingers and emailed them the receipt. Quick, easy and not a single decline.

The readers are free direct from the company and if purchased from a retail outlet, Squareup will credit the purchase price back.

I've been using it on multiple transactions 2 to 3 days a week for awhile now.

Never had a single decline and I always use the phone to take a photo of the customer holding their card in case of fraudulent charge-backs.

What size transactions were you guys doing? Most of mine are between $65 and $150. Out of probably 10 transactions I tried maybe 2 were approved.

I got mine for free when they first rolled them out. They actually sent me 3 for some reason.

That's cool to know that they credit back the amount you spend on the reader.

We got to our Public Market at least once each week. This past Saturday, I noticed someone using one of these and immediately made a nice purchase from him and will do so again this weekend.

My transactions are typically in the $85 to $150 range.

Along the same lines of what shimmy said, I know a few strippers who use them when taking customers to the VIP area. Save the customer money from the addition fees the clubs tack on and puts more money in the girls pocket as well. I'm waiting for any one of them to get caught doing it so I can see them blow up when they get fired.

They even have a locator that tells you where other SquareUp merchants are so you can find them easier.
