cPanel or not?

Just ordered a server and would like to know if i should get cPanel or not.
The server is fully managed so is it a waste of resources and $50/month?

What do rest of people here use?

I like directadmin, mostly because I feel gay opening a ticket for every little thing. If not for pride, I'd say fuck the admin panel and just bother your host all the time. Is cpanel that thing they use on godaddy hosting?

cpanel is a waste of $$$ you can do everything you need to do with directadmin at a fraction of the cost.

Mojohost seems to charge $50 whatever it is cpanel or directadmin.

I am used to just create tickets every time I need a database added or other small things.

Thought it would be easier for everyone I do these things myself, but yes $50 seems like a lot.

yeah, everything is negotiable. I pay $69 for unmanaged (which they actually have done a lot to manage it) and another $50 would almost double the cost.

I use dedico and they installed a free directadmin... think it is plex or something. I can create all my emails, add databases, add sites... that's really all I do there.

Why would you need a control panel on a fully managed server? Be that as it may, DirectAdmin is a much better panel and is not nearly as bloated.

should be $25 and is some cases you can get it free. I'm hosted with SoftLayer. only $25 and 15% off you bill each month if you agree to a 1yr contract.

Host in my sig gives directadmin for free... and they help you if you need it. They give away free months like they're nothing too, so holla.

Wow...charging $50 a month for cPanel is Highway robbery. I think they pay about $7 a month wholesale.

Charging $50 for that is borderline scamming in my opinion.

I think $50 is ridiculous. DirectAdmin, which I like better than cpanel, is included with my servers for free.

I know. I have been used to ticket system which worked like a charm. I must say though, it will often be faster if i am able to do easy things as adding fx domains and databases myself.

I am a firm believer of using DirectAdmin. I just do not understand the logic of paying for fully managed if you are going to do most of the stuff yourself.

$50 a month for cPanel? WOW! Talk about taking it in the rear without lube.. Most hosts charge $25 a month for cPanel on a dedicated server, the most I've seen it for until now is $35 a month. If the server is fully managed without cPanel I would say you don't need it. You can just have your host do everything for you. But if you like to do things yourself and not have to wait on your host to do it, then I would say go ahead and get cPanel or DirectAdmin. Both will make doing tasks a lot easier for you esp. if you aren't familiar with how to do them without a control panel.

cPanel is hell of a tool!
I could not use any other stuff (direct admin, plesk...)
It's absolute MUST in my book, but that price is to big.

cPanel (WHM) should cost no more than $30

if they are not going to do everything for you then its not fully managed TBH.
I would call that only partially managed. failing that if you feel scared to ask them to do stuff, then fuck the cpanel rental and ask the fully managed provider to install webmin for you

CPanel should be free! Or maybe even a discount.

DirectAdmin is free, and it destroys CPanel. OMG! Why pay for CPanel. Please! Noooo!!!!
