Attention Nikon Users: A good reason to go Canon

I was recently thinking about purchasing the Nikon D4 until I read this:

That's a bad reason to switch cameras.

What Nikon is doing is very smart. First they are protecting their dealers. Dealers have an interest in providing good support and repairs for the prices they charge and don't want to be undercut by someone using shitty parts or poor quality after-market components. Next, Nikon is protecting its brand. They are one of the best camera companies in the world and don't want to have the quality of their product and after sales support ruined either.

This in my opinion gives me even more reason to buy another Nikon in the future.

Really? Unless you are shooting with the best of their camera's seems the quality they put out is not close to the leval of even a starter canon dslr "in my experiance from all nikon photographers I have worked with"

4 experiences sending my cameras or lenses to Nikon direct has resulted in 3 terrible experiences.

Must admit 3 repairs were due to me dropping a lens. 1 defect in 8 SLR bodies in 24 years is not too shabby.

I said "one of the best". When anyone thinks cameras, who do you think of? Good bet that Nikon is always in the top 5 if not top 2 names anyone thinks of.

Nikon makes a better camera hands down. The optics are better, colors are richer, there flash has perfect exposure.

Canon is just pure junk I'll never switch.

How about photographers post their own pics, and see what comes out on top with better quality, Canon or Nikon.

I own both Nikon and Canon cameras, along with an older Olympus that still serves me well. News of authorized dealers only doing repairs doesn't bother me - filters out the ones offering shoddy service and inferior parts.

Everyone shall always have their own preference for their own reasons, which is probably why canon & nikon are still both going strong.

With reference to the thread, I don't think using authorised dealers can be a problem, especially considering, most photographers have insurance

I have never gotten a nikon repaired to be honest with you, well never a digital nikon..

However.. I did recently get a canon repaired, and couldn't be happier with them.. The got the lens, fixed, it and shipped it out the same day. I was shocked..

I shipped it from vegas to calf on wed.. and got it back working perfect on friday..

Canons and Nikon and Lights, you only want the best people to work on them.. Don't risk it, just sent it to the maker to get it fixed.
