Those of you that do this fulltime...
How long did it take you until you were making enough to support yourself fulltime with this? How much were you making per day when you made the jump to fulltime?

Well.... I was working full time for the phone company when I had started my first celebrity site after college (1997). I did it as a hobby at first until the $1500+ a month bandwidth bills forced me to make a membership site. I was essentially paying out of my pocket for others pleasure. I then started making like $3000.00 a month immediately after expenses.
When I had gotten into my own productions, it took around 7-9 months before it exploded and was in the black. We were shooting the wrong women, and lighting was bad and shit to start. We made a lot of mistakes and learned as we went along. Luckily we had a solid client base who wrote us a ton of scripts and help along the way. Once we switched over the college chicks instead of strippers and older chicks, memberships started climbing to be profitable. Hang in there champ. ![]() |

Took me about 1 1/2 years... When I made the jump I was making about $4K a month. Maybe more. I actually took a pay cut for the first couple of months, but I knew I'd make so much more if I didn't split my time between a job that paid me a set amount and one that paid me an insane amount for a much smaller amount of work.

Quit your job and jump in headfirst. It's the only way you can compete with other fulltimers.

Well back around 1994 or maybe 95 I was doing odd computer jobs locally in my small home town... Living in a run down house in a bad part of town... My wife and I would get up(or stay up) to go to yard sales early on Friday and Saturday morning and resell our found treasures on Ebay for power bill money. One day out of the blue I built a crappy avs porn site and decided to try to sell it on Ebay, the sum bitch sold for 1350.00 bucks if I remember right. I was blown away to say the least.... Then I built another AVS site using Sexkey and sold it on Ebay, it didn't bring as much but I made a few sales with Sexkey while the fucking auction was going on!... Now I was really freaking out....
Now I can't remember exactly how I did it but it wasn't complected at all, it was just changing some numbers in the url to get ebay to list thousands of users per page (showing the users email addy no doubt).. I then bought some crappy little email harvester and collected those emails and began spamming like a dumb ass promoting my one little AVS site. I made 250.00 bucks my first day... Again totally blown away at that kind of money back then...Of course I had to find a new host every other week cause they were terminating me like hot cakes for spamming but I didn't give a shit.. After a while I got fed up with the hassle of spamming and opened a free host, holy shit now the money rolls... I was doing 5 figures a month very quick, and it stayed that way until GW won/stole the election from Gore.. Ever since then its been a gradual decline for me, I still make the majority of my living form porn, but nothing like I used to make...I've also branched out into mainstream a bit. If I had been smarter when I was younger when the big money was rolling I could be kicking my feet up now, but I squandered a lot of my younger self's money... Anyhow, that's my tiny little story....

Some great stories, congrats on everyone that makes a living doing this fulltime. This is a hobby for me that's earning me extra money (although right now I reinvest everything I make). I respect anyone doing this full time, you definitely have to work hard not to mention it can be hard managing your time when you work from home.

If I could do a solid 3-4k a month part time I'd be pleased with that for now. Getting to that is a battle and a half....

Took me about a week. I fucked around with free sites and then started doing pretty good doing banner promotions. Then when I really got serious promoting in newsgroups, I made enough to put a down payment on a home the first month.

About 3 months until I gave up my non web related job, that was back in 2001. But since 2004 I have worked for a affiliate program while continuing to push my own sites

Making the jump was easier in the 90's when some were paying up to 20 cents per banner click. Silly money. I made the jump at about 6-8k a month.
Eventually discovered ifriends, got some girls to exhibit and later started a cam site using icq & a mainstream merchant account. Had 10-20 girls listed at any one time. Seeing money roll in was addicting. It was also amazing watching those girls make money from home. Since that point I've grown with domain names, mainstream sites etc. Keeping your hand in a number of areas is key these days I believe. Work your ass off. It will pay off eventually.

I was hosting [free] mixtapes when I was about 16-17 long before datpiff came along and made good money from donations and I've pretty much always been doing online business since then.
PS: your question can't really be answered to fit your circumstances. Depends on a lot of things.. |

Cant really say, cause Ive always been in porn, well before the net existed.
However 2002/2003 was when the silly money arrived. I missed the real goldrush, cause when the net started all I used it for was another place to advertise my VHS videos, sent by mail order ![]() |

How someone else started yesterday, will have little effect on you today. If you get what I'm saying. In 1977 my situation was different and I'm writing about it now in my life in porn story.
In 1977 my wife and I went to the brink of bankruptcy. I saved the situation by going back to Europe to do some modeling in porn movies. Then got the idea of selling photos mail order. It took a couple of weeks for the photo profits to pass the UK average weekly wage. As we were deep in debt we needed 3 incomes, so kept it part time. Didn't take long either. Soon found a job as a professional salesman and started to earn very good money. Plus the income from porn. Eventually clearing our debts and buying our apartment in London. Was divorced, meeting girls was easy as a shooter and it took a few hours at the weekend and evenings. The day job rose to 6 figure GBP. 1988 my Father died in tragic circumstances. It changed me a lot and I lost the flare of selling. So quit to be a full time pornographer. 2008 double disasters hit so I retired. Sites still open and taking orders. Eva is the sole boss and owns the business. |

![]() There's been good days and bad days. Over all more good than bad. Didn't like having my front door kicked in by burly policemen at 5.00 in the morning. Hated working with models who thought they were Gods gift. As a model trying to keep wood it's a nightmare, as a shooter I told them to ![]() Would I have done something different if I could get into a time machine and go back to 1966? I did a little bit in those days. Yes and anyone who says otherwise isn't very ambitious or bright or just lying. We can all look back and say, I should of done this then and not then. Online the biggest mistake was not buying key single word domains in the very early days. You don't survive as a business in any industry for 35 years without getting more right than wrong. ![]() |

I jumped in headfirst in mid 2006, went from a great salary to 0, didn't earn for 6 months, and didn't make more than i was already on previously for 18 months... it was quality of life I wanted and the ability to work anywhere with an internet connection, it took some time but was worth it in the long run, wish I was in it a few years earleri though when there was more spending!

This IMO has led to the decline of the porn industry as much as many other things. It saturated the online porn business with people who didn't have much more than an Internet connection and elementary skills to submit, put up sites, etc. Didn't lead to more porn spending by consumers and could of led to less, with most of them giving away free porn. Everything else in business takes more to get in and a lot more to succeed. Even getting a job at MacDonalds requires them to leave their Mum's basement everyday and turn up for work on time. ![]() |

Adult paid for my houses, a few BMWs and one hell of a party from 1999 until 2010 ...
2010: Got Divorced and went 100% at my IT consulting biz. To date: Has paid out more in gross profits and stickier client retention than adult ever came close to..... Downside of IT consultant: No chicks are in it. Its a sausage party. Upside of IT consultant: The money practically prints itself, the clients pay well and you get a load of questions once you tell your clients your background involved pron ... instant rockstar and BAYUM .. more orders. |

Bit of advice. That screen grab is from a site trying to sell something and giving out BS to sell it's product. Go look at the site. It's using scare tactics. It quotes $3,075.64 per second being spent on porn. $184,538.40 per minute $11,072,304 per hour $265,735,296 per day That's $969,932,275,000 a year. If I did my sums right. The porn industry has never come remotely close to that figure and they don't have a clue how to reach ANY figures. ![]() |

Think about this. All you are really doing is moving electrons around inside a computer. When you get paid by wire, all that does is move electrons around inside a computer (your bank's).

I got fired from the job I was working at the time. Downsized is more like it, but at the time I was running my free sites and gallery submissions FROM WORK and had more than replaced the salary I was making at the time. While I was sad to lose a job that had me travelling around the world on someone else's dime, being my own boss at 24 was a much better situation.

I have a bachelors in computer science and know more about IT than 90% of all consultants. yet I have never made it as an IT consultant. I cant even stay employed with consultant groups for long. I dont have the ability to lie to the customers. I dont even like to mislead them. IT consultant Employers HATE it if you wont lie or mislead the cleints. If you shamelessly take advantage of your clients lack of knowledge in IT, you will be a top earner in IT consulting. I have a sense of shame/morals/a sense of right and wrong. I use to think of that as a badge of honor. Now I see its a mental defect. So there's no such thing as "that industry's dead" to the proud few. You want to make the most money as fast as possible? loose your shame. loose your sense of right and wrong. look at all surfers as people who have YOUR money. hell, look at other webmasters as people who have your money. Now you'll get rich fast. Have a heart? have a sense of right and wrong? well you have my condolences. I understand completely.
