new ipad: wifi or 4g; 16gb or 32gb

no current ipad owner here, so no LT experience

i think i will mostly be using it via wifi (@home/office), on the train at airports
so i am not really sure how much i really need mobile, non-wifi internet given i still also carry my iphone (i should be able to tether here if i need to, right?).
given I am not in the US and can not us 4g afterall

what are your experiences?

also 16gb vs 32gb? given that i would continue to listen to music with my iphone 16gb should be enough, no?

input welcome

get the ipad wifi 16gb! (i'm getting this one too)

in my experience mobile on ipad is slow anyways, and 16gb is big enough unless you are a music/video collector or something

I have a WiFi only 32 gig Ipad 2 and an Iphone. I use the Iphone where WiFi is not available and have been content with that. I have not needed more than 16 gig so far, but happy that I have the additional storage if I need it.

Yeah. I guess it depends on what type of user you are. If you can get away with using your phone for internet away from home, go with the wifi. That coupled with the fact that every day there are more and more wifi hotspots being added to public places, it won't be long before you can get internet pretty much anywhere.

God forbid your phone dies when you are on the road and you need internet on your iPad, pull into the nearest Mickey D's and grab a soda and sit in the parking lot and surf. Lord knows there is a McDonald's pretty much on every corner. Also, you skip the monthly fees.

That's my take on it.

excl monthly costs you are looking at a 100 buck difference between 16 and 32gb (which is fucked up because it storage basically costs nothing) and 120 of wifi vs 4g

If you're buying the new iPad, get it with at least 32GB, 64GB required. Why? The new screen has 4 times the resolution of the old screen and soon game makers, e-book and e-mag publishers will be taking advantage of it, making your software and read-ware footprint bigger.

And if you already have a phone, but it without 4G/LTE. You can use Wifi most anywhere these days but for places without wifi, you can tether your iPad to your mobile phone for Internet access via cable or bluetooth. This saves you over $100, extends battery life, and most importantly does not require a separate cellular account.

Yup, I was thinking about the same thing as well. Wifi or 3/4G version... I decided to go with Wifi Only version, because I have my iPhone and can tether whenever I need internet and there is no wifi available. I was also thinking whether to go for 16 or 32GB version, but decided 16GB will be enough for the start, since all my music will be on my iPhone which is 32GB anyway.

Thank you. Picking one up end of the month myself as an upgrade on my ipad1. Dont need 4g myself and i think the 32g will be enough. I hardly watch movies or play games on it anyways.

I have a 32GB WiFi iPad, and honestly, I like being able to store many movies (and FLAC music) on it to watch/listen on demand, so I can see a 64GB in my near future ... and maybe a HyperDrive too!

I thought storage would not be a big factor, but now storing movies on it has become so convenient, that I would suggest going for as much storage space as you can afford.

Remember the days when 900MB was a large hard drive for a PC? My Pentium 75 had a 900MB IBM hard drive, and that was considered a very decent sized HDD back in the day!!

Boxee for iPad is hands down the best app for watching movies stored on your home network on your iPad ...

I've tried Air Server and the whole lot of them, and none work as good as Boxee for iPad
