FreeBSD is a very mature, stable and performance oriented operating system
I find it very pleasant to work with without all the bullshit stuff a centos installs by default for example. Centos is great too but if we have larger and more complex setups we normally go freebsd.

More progressive.

Free BSD is much more limited. Drivers, configuration (try recoding the core of free BSD), addons, the list really goes on. Free BSD cannot keep up now-a-days. Don't get me wrong, back in the day it was more stable. Now it's behind in almost every way to Linux other then the cool devil logo.

If its managed, why are you trying to make the decisions for the host?

I have been on FreeBSD the last 7 years and now looking for a custom streaming solution and would trust this setup to FreeBSD as well.

Perhaps the scripts they are planning on running?

I suspect most reputable manged hosts will offer FreeBSD. I am relatively confident MojoHost does. We offer it, but provide a control panel so you can do just about anything yourself. I think the real question is do you really need managed or do you need a great panel and support when you need it? That we can do.

We provide managed services on FreeBSD with or without a control panel.
Let us know if we can help

Parallels Plesk control panel doesn't support FreeBSD anymore. They are assholes. FreeBSD is a great OS for stable servers.

Because I am not too paranoid to talk about things I believe in, without worrying about negative people that have nothing better to do then try to cause drama

So far... Choopa/ISPrime/Amerinoc.
I know that Swiftwill does support FreeBSD as well.

So far I am having a hard time contacting Reflected.net sales, they havent respond for two days now. Wondering how fast are they with support..

Anyone else?

And FreeBSD is a great stable OS for servers.

Completely wrong, you're definitely ignorant when it comes to FreeBSD.

Read the Handbook and then come back and look at your paragraph.

You might have trouble streaming on free bsd itself.
Unless you are going the route of http://www.rtmpd.com/

12 years of experience tells otherwise. It's not a huge difference and Freebsd is awesome but without a doubt Linux is much more versatile and more supported. There is no argument on this.

it's a variation of unix which is what freebsd and Linux is based off of and it's locked tighter than bankers donation budget.

It's Apples and Oranges for the most part. Linux has better driver support, more versatility, and a more active community, also the kernel is a little cleaner just from being upgraded more times (better ram utilization and smoother load). After about 5 years of working with both, we saw alot more problems with freebsd and an almost impossible way to upgrade them. It wasn't worth it to use them anymore. Keep in mind our head tech learned on freebsd and is smarter then all of us chit chatting here. Do what you like (of course), it's your server. If a pro photographer is telling me how to shoot on the right camera I would listen, I suggest paying attention about a server OS from someone that has hosted tens of thousands of sites with thousands of servers over 12 straight extremely successful years.

Anyone seen hacked FreeBSD on a root level? Probably yes, but I see Linux getting hacked much often.
Anyway back to topic, any other host managed FreeBSD host company?
