This is just damage control.
People used to love Manny because of how humble they perceived him, because for a while he was kind and humble. Once they started hearing about his ego, him cheating on his wife, drinking and partying, cussing out his trainers, etc.. They realized he turned into a dick. Now, he's a born again Christian.
