Its a good PR move of course, but I am sure that it is at least partly based also on the fact that many people involved in such businesses are hiding behind fake IDs.....

When business clients sign up with us, we ask them to provide us information relating to their company, including a URL. This information is then checked and the account is usually approved unless we see something that is in direct violation with our Terms of Service.

I saw mention of Squillion in another thread and we will be investigating the situation, and taking appropriate action.

It's easy to jump on the bandwagon and accuse us of duplicity, but as was originally stated in the starting post of this thread:

Quote:
Since there are quite a lot of these types of sites around, and since we do not know every single one of them by name, we do ask that, should you encounter any such illegal file-sharing/piracy sites using Paxum services, PLEASE notify us IMMEDIATELY so that we can take the necessary steps to cease doing business with such companies.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We sincerely appreciate the communication, and we will investigate the situation.

Why won't Paxum take action when two file locker sites are brought to their attention with Paxum accounts ? Read on.

Very well worded. First Paxum accepted payments for Squillion without taking action, now Paxum are taking payments for FileFap.com without taking action.

Here's the rub, unless Paxum has already verified an account then that account can keep taking payments and Paxum can't do a thing about it according to Paxum!

"Unverified accounts can receive funds, however in order for any Paxum account-holder to be able to access any funds in their account, they must first verify their Paxum account."

However Paxum have also continued to allow FileFap.com to keep receiving payments into it's Paxum account, the payment flow still works

http://filefap.com

"If the account were to become verified and receive funds from sources that are in violation of our Terms of Service such as piracy sites, then we would be able to take appropriate action."

So until an account is verified, it can still be used to collect payments allowing access to pirated content.

Paxum, please come up with something substantive, like actually CANCELLING the account and displaying a message similar to "This recipient cannot receive funds" and not allowing the payment flow to actually process.

Paxum have replied to us confirming they do not deal with file lockers and stating that after thorough investigation of the account in question that they have terminated the account.

However it appears to us like the payment flow will still work and we were able to progress a transaction stopping short of confirming payment.

We have asked Paxum for clarification.

Paxum lied.

Simple fact is they process for file lockers.

As far as I can tell in my communications with Paxum they have no risk management team so are just completely unable to monitor and deal with such issues.

Paxum are great at salesmanship - but when it comes to controlling what goes on with their own payment processing system they are lousy.

I wonder what the point is of their KYC efforts when they rely on third parties to raise issues of risk with them - then once the issue is raised it can take a year or more for action.

Paxum process for file lockers, lots of them, through the reseller VIP-KEYS.

I stand by my words. It took more than a year to be told by Chris that an account had been dealt with that was linked to an infringing image host, however that account can still receive funds.

On the 20th August this year I first informed Paxum about VIP-KEYS, apart from the fact that they wanted us to do all the investigation (i.e.: tracking the account details), they have not disabled the account.

Paxum are working with file lockers, if they had a credible risk management team then they might be able to find abuse of their service by themselves.

To make matters even worse, an account we reported to Paxum not long after this thread was posted by Ruth can still receive funds.

The original post was an empty, cheap PR stunt - until Paxum take these issues seriously I'll keep raising these issues publicly. Paypal, Payza, Skrill all have proper risk management procedures - Paxum do not.

Paxum performs complete KYC for EVERY account. We have a fraud department which investigates any fraudulent activity in our system. Many of our business clients can attest to the effectiveness of our fraud department.

Your Paxum funds are at no risk of being frozen by the DOJ or anything like that. We do perform due diligence and full KYC requirements.

Due, please hit me up directly if you want to chat about this in more detail at all.

Meanwhile VIPKEYS still accepts Paxum payments for more than a dozen of the largest file lockers.

AK: Not to be contentious, but according to that screencap, apparently so does VISA, Mastercard, Webmoney and others.

Are you attacking all of their processors, including VISA/Mastercard, or just singling out Paxum? I ask, genuinely, because it seems like you are targeting Paxum and/or Paypal specifically. Unless I am mistaken, I would think that any anti-piracy efforts would have greater effect by targeting the larger processors. Certainly there would be more media coverage over it.

That said, I have no dog in this race, Just curious is all.

We work to shut off all forms of processing.

VIP KEYS has twice lost Visa and once lost Mastercard and then found new acquirers. As with every time this happens we go back through the processes.

Webmoney is a lost cause, although we still seek to put pressure on them via several means, but Webmoney process payments for ILLEGAL websites - so having them shut off file lockers is not easy.

The real point in this thread is that Paxum posted this thread as nothing more than a cheap publicity stunt, however have NEVER followed through on the promise they themselves made. I didn't force them to post a thread announcing they would not be involved with file lockers, they did it by themselves. Now I expect them to honour their commitment and will keep this thread bumped with examples of where they are not doing so.

Seriously Considering closing my biz account if this isnt worked out. I will not support anyone knowingly or unknowingly via complicit ignorance who is working with pirates.

For all the bullshit legit business have to go thru it seems very

anybody who says they are anti piracy and takes payments from or for any Manwin owned site is doing nothing more than blowing smoke up everyones asses plain and simple

Ive been offered a lot of money to run adds for Manwin owned properties...It wont happen.

If Manwin sent me money and said here consider it a donation for your hard work on piracy Id send it back and tell them to destroy their competition themselves

Im not beatin up on anyone if its OK in your mind more power to ya... It just dont work for me.

I know you aren't one with a strength for facts, but things changed a long time ago and we don't receive any financial support from Manwin.

You probably don't even know that Adult IP exists, so here http://adultip.org - educate yourself.

As for Paxum, they deal with payments from some piracy sites, some shady nigerian and middle eastern money exchangers, a few HYIP schemes and dodgy bitcoin investment schemes.

They seem to be strong on the front end of KYC, but once you're a customer there seems to be almost no oversight.

Another file sharing site which both accepts Paxum and pays out uploaders via Paxum.

We'd report these to Paxum's risk management team however we have not been given a contact to report these to other than Ruth or Chris which historically has been unreliable.

17 HYIP Schemes using Paxum
47 Money Exchangers (including Bitcoin) using Paxum
39 File Lockers Paying out Via Paxum
29 File Lockers accepting Paxum via resellers.

and that's only what we have found so far.

Do you actually have a risk management team ?
