I'm going to be setting up the fireworks display in Newport Beach over the next couple of days. We will be setting up over 1200 mortars. 110 will be going off for the finale. My buddy asked if I wanted to blow up shit, sounded like a good time. I'll try to get some video and pics up after I get back

its going to be insane and extremely loud where you're going to be. I think it would be crazy fun to be a part of that (you lucky guy!) but I'd rather be 1+ miles away to really enjoy the spectacle of the show without the neck cramps and headache the next day

Been at that distance and it's good, but ground zero will be an experience. I guess they have these big cakes that shoot off hundreds of mini missles and we have a lot of these, the whole thing is controled wirelessly.

Last Saturday, I trekked over to the Sacto area with a few girls and a small crew (where fireworks are legal, unlike where I live), and so we lit off a few bags of safe and sane fireworks near the river. Good fun, although nothing on the epic scale that you are talking about.

We weren't there for the fireworks though anyway...
