In the UK, is traditional to have a "Roast Dinner' on a Sunday.

Traditional style of dinner looks like this:

So, In about 4 hours time, I'll be sitting down to Roast Beef, Roast Spuds, Mashed Spuds, Peas, Carrots and Gravy...

Yep, from scratch. Well, I'm not going to make my own yogurt, or grow my own mint leaves, but otherwise, from scratch.

It's kinda my new hobby. Goto Google Images, type in a protein (chicken/pork/beef/shrimp/whatever), then a couple random letters, and it'll suggest me food I've never heard of before. I just browse the images until I find something that looks tasty, then search for a recipe for it.

A guy gets tired of eating the same old shit all the time, so this works!

Parents were supposed to come up for football and bring some food, but my mother had an emergency at work, and the whole 5th floor of one of the office buildings she runs flooded with 3' of water, including her office. So needless to say, I'm sitting here eating a bologna sandwich for now as I don't feel like cooking.

On Sundays the wife, toddler and I go to Yo Sushi. I know it's about as crap as sushi goes, but it's near by and the kiddo can eat a lot on their belt. (He's got a soy allergy, and it's hard to find places that are good about keeping their dishes allergy-free.)

And they've got an all-you-can-eat thing that saves us a few pounds over the usual bill.

Did a Pineapple and Ginger Glazed Ham yesterday, with mashed potatoes, and roasted root vegetables from the garden. I like doing Sunday dinners, its a departure from the normal how quick can I cook this and scarf it down, rest of the week type fare.

I miss Yorkshire pudding. I need to see if there is anywhere here that does them. It was one of the few foods from over there I never really learned to make from scratch. All the Nana's and their pride for their own method intimidated me.

The only real Sunday food tradition I grew up with was that on Sunday the main meal was lunch but they called it 'supper' and whatever my mom or grandmother would normally have made for the evening meal she did for lunch after church with the family around.
