Should I be at Internext 2013?

I've never been to an affiliate conference for my adult work but I'm thinking of attending Internext in Las Vegas in January 2013. I think my main interest would be to meet other owners and affiliates of cam programs to discuss ideas, business models and a possible partnership. I am small bankroll at this time and I run my show 100% solo. (NO I DON'T WANT TO START A CAM SITE) My network consists of 4 paysites, various blogs, tubes and misc traffic generating type sites and a handful of white label sites.

Is it worth my time to attend Internext or should I just stay in my hobbit hole and try to achieve my goals online?

You could start right now by putting a link for affiliates to sign up to promote your paysites in your sig.

And yeah, it won't hurt to come to Vegas for Internext. You'll have fun and meet some of your peers.

You won't do big business like we all used to at the shows. But that isn't the fault of the show itself..it's just a result of piracy and the industry being on life support from it.

But it won't hurt you to come out. And you may get a deal or two going and worst case scenario you have some fun in Vegas.

Networking is beneficial. If you are a wallflower, not so much. They will have speed networking and seminars ( http://www.adultentertainmentexpo.com/ )

If going for the party alone, maybe not.

Internext was a busy show in January this year. LOTS of people in attendance and no doubt it will be the same next January.

As baddog said, if you take advantage of the Speed Networking then you'll definitely meet new people, but if you tend to be shy and not communicative then you may not gain as much benefit. I think he meant to give you this link though http://www.internext-expo.com

Internext gives you the opportunity to connect with fellow affiliates, program owners, affiliate managers, hosts, designers etc. It's free for affiliates and the Hard Rock Hotel rate is pretty cheap ($79 USD per night from what I can see). Out of all the shows you could hit, Internext is likely to be your best and least expensive bet imo.

A good way to get a 'feel' for how the show went is to check out JFK's pics on FUBAR, here's a direct link to his Internext 2012 pics - http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/events.php?id=262

Good luck with your sites and your decision!

Last year was somewhat disappointing. Not too many sponsors. But I had a blast at suite party with Ron Jeremy, Max Hardcoer and Co. Special thanks to AdultEuHost. Greatest guy ever!
Hopefully this year will be better.

Speed Networking:

Make sure you find out where to register for it. Usually you need to register about 30 minutes beforehand, and it's very popular so get there early and get in line if you can!

Registering for Speed Networking:

At the tables:

Typically you get 2-3 minutes with each person and then one side gets up and moves around while the other side stays where they are. It's usually pretty loud, because its always full, but it really is a great way to network. Just make sure to bring some business cards with you!!

10 minutes in the casino during the day is allowed right??? Is this where I've gone wrong all these years?? ;)

Seriously though, yes, it's worth it. Great show with tons of business potential for those who still take doing business at shows seriously.

I've been doing shows for 12 years and this is an excellent venue to attend, really a great value if you show up to work- learn and network. The conferences now are much more focused with still a good fun factor. If you want to shadow our group, we enjoy helping people with their social networking and helping them to grow their businesses.

If you're itching to get a show in go to Internext by all means. I would also heavily consider attending Phoenix Forum as well.

I may be partial as Phoenix has such a big gay component to the show and being that we are on the gay side its easier to be partial.

Well, i said it "supposed" to be the biggest ,,, honestly i heard many times that it PHX was the biggest usa show... If Internext has the double well good things, maybe its the venue/city that makes this impression because vegas is so huge, same as the conference hotel compare to phx, were the hotel is exclusive and Tempe is much more quiet..

I think also last Year Vegas was a great comeback year, and during few years AVN stop organising it and it drop, so im glad its back at this nice level and count me in again this year for sure... AVN team is my favorite show organising team and all always fully satisfied when im attend your event... see ya in January...

The Phoenix show has a great rep for treating the industry well at the show It's comfortable and in a small hotel that makes it easy to see everybody.

But it was never as big of a show as Internext is. Matter of fact...back around 1998 to 2002...Internext was gigantic. We used to do a big 20x20 booth when it was at The Sands Expo Center in the Venetian with models from the content company I owned at the time doing couch dances for webmasters.
One year a company even brought in a full size virtual reality ride like you see at amusement parks!

There were thousands of people there. And much money to be made.

But that was pre-piracy.

Internext now is a much smaller affair. But still a lot bigger than Phoenix Forum.

Both shows suffer from the fact that so many affiliates have dropped out and so many sponsors no longer have the money to throw big parties and have big exhibits, etc.

Overall, they both have their pluses. Phoenix is a more laid back feel. Vegas is more wide open fun. I like both.

But I've skipped Phoenix the last few years. For me, as an affiliate and a program owner...I don't really get anything out of it.

And since I live in Vegas, it doesn't make any sense for me to drive 4 hours south to Phoenix to party...I already live in a great party town.

And speaking of parties...everyone has their own style. But over the years I've made twice as many deals and money attending parties late at night at Internext and Phoenix Forum and XBiz and Webmaster Access shows than during the days.
The days are mostly seminars. No way to cut a deal while you're listening to a speaker.
The new "speed networking" concept is pretty cool. But after you've been in this business a couple of decades, you already know everybody and what they are pushing.
Plus you can meet those same people over a social drink in the evening anyway.

Damn i wish i has been in the industry before to see those crazy huge show

Who know maybe one day it will be back to bigger level

That being said EVERY show i went i did deals, and it help us raised the company to the actual level... Yes we can mail/chat but it will never be the same that a real meeting in person, it works better

About party its true to.. it help solidify relationship... mostly if your a boss/partner and you go out with other owner, well nothing better than a strip club late night deal... i heard story about deals done in Ibiza and pretty interesting stuff

But i want my affilate manager/rep to fo sleep at one point and be in shape in the morning ill go make deal in the afterhour

Yeah, keep your employees in check or something bad can always happen at a party to embarrass your company. lol

I much prefer to speak to other owners anyway at the strip club.
