amazing that he was arrested in the first place, and the way it was done and coming from interpol, they should have known this would have opened up a shitstorm, especially in Quebec. I wonder if the result would have been different if it was in Alberta or Saskatchewan?

Maybe because it was being claimed as "authentic real brutal crimes"?
