I don't know what kind of shit holes the rest of you want to eat in but if I have to wait in a line to pay and don't get full service I'm going somewhere else.. may as well be burger king if i have to do that..

once again franck knows the USA haha where did you get this watching TV? I know a lot of hot ass waitresses and they make good money but also but their buts if they wanna do it too. If they wanna take on 6 tables and still make everyone happy they have to have a lot of things besides looks to get it done. I would not want that job.

Society would not collapse if the system was repaired/changed. Just look at some of these stories. A guy gives a tip and sees the waitress took more money on a receipt doesn't bug you? Another guy has a waiter take almost as much as the food costs and that's not a problem? The phrase "mandatory tip" exists and it's no biggie? By reading this you agree to pay me $10 via paypal. If more than 6 of you read it, it's $20.

Its true there are many other industries that do have great service without the tipping angle, but many of them are paid well to do it. But there are many industries that show really poorly as far as service is concerned. Not sure where you are from, but I would argue that service in the U.S for some reason is really above par. Especially in restaurants, so much so that I think they take it a bit too far. Compared with the few cities I've visited in Europe where service was apathetic at best. Here in Canada its somewhat similar to the U.S, but a step down (our wages are higher so the tip % tends to be a little lower)

It does take a certain type of person to be in that type of job. They eat a lot of shit some days and still have to maintain that smile, and generally they are doing it for an hour at a time, not just the quick 2 minute interaction.

I actually like tipping for good service. If I go to my local coffee shop and the person remembers how I like my coffee, they should be rewarded for it. They don't have to remember, but it shows that bit extra.

Apparently, it will. It seems people can't choose to be or not be wait staff in a crap restaurant where they won't make any money at all. Also, it appears that consumers can't vote for what they want with their Dollars in a capitalist nation. What to do... what to do. How do we create this perfect Utopia where everyone just wakes up and gets everything they need handed to them while doing the absolute bare minimum and never having to try???

good service = tip, bad service = no tip, that's the way it should be world wide, end of. If someone sucks at their job why the fuck should they be rewarded, I don't expect it from my clients so why should I accept it myself. Employers should pay their staff appropriately, they are the real winners... $2 per hour, wtf?!?!
