Heist

I am sure most of you have thought about this...and not just for the money but for the thrill. If you were to plan a heist what would you hit?

I am actually writing a book about a fictionalized version of a cyber crime that potentially could be easy to pull off.

The town next to mine has a big rodeo every 4th of July. They pull all the stops out for the 4th and get a lot of visitors during the 2nd-5th of July.

Because of all of this they decided to ask the Department of Homeland Security for money. Their claim was that all of these functions are potential terrorist targets. They ended up getting $8.5 million dollars for various projects that covered everything from building barriers to upgrading facilities to training and paying for part time help during those days.

That money basically sat in an account that a few different people from the city had access to and they did transfers as needed to pay for bills.

So, if you had a situation like that it would have been very simple for one of these people to wire that money to an offshore account and disappear with it. My story is about a couple of guys who try to pull this off.

The Federal Reserve got hit for 1.2 million off a Swiss Air Flight yesterday. They aren't gonna miss it anyways.

I wouldn't do it, but I like the idea of stealing 1 dollar from everybody that downloads a pirated movie or piece of software. That actually happens quite a bit with pirated operating systems, Except the virus writers steal more than a dollar.

Guys stole $10.8 million from an Armored car company here where I live, in the 90s. It's still unsolved, to an extent. They know who was involved, but most of them are now dead.

There were ties to an Irish priest and the IRA too. Crazy story.

The first time i went out with my girlfriend, we agreed that we would both be down for a heist.... and that's how we knew....

True story.

We just had a burglary to a condo here where they got 2 million in pesos worth of Watches that's about 200k. Thing is, they belonged to the ex wife the the State treasurer who's boss was just put in jail for stealing millions of dollars while in office.

Funny thing is, it was two cops that did the burglary.

Whats the story?

I was watching 60 Minutes on Sunday and they featured a story about a guy in Washington state who pulled a heist dressed as a maintenance worker where he robbed an armour truck when it got to the bank, as a decoy he hired 20 people off craigslist to dress up the same as decoys...it was pretty smart, in the end he got caught cause a bum off the street copied his license plate when he was originally casing the bank...crazy stuff.

Fric Frac is a pretty good book if you can find it. It is written by Albert Spaggiari. A legend that tunneled into a French Bank.
