Remember how Target stores got hacked?

Remember how the Target stores got hacked? We shop at Target often; We have one a block away and it's perfect for nearly everything we need. The moment the news broke I started watching my account like a hawk. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary, but Saturday... My card was declined. Ironically, this was at Target.

BOA tells me my card was compromised at Target, and they are sending me a new one in the mail.

First time this has ever happened to me.

I had my bank change my card as soon as it happened, didn't want any issues to deal with in the future.

My bank is doing the same. I also had credit card fraudulent charges from Target 5 years ago. Target has lax security with credit cards from my experiences. The TJ Max hack a few years ago was more that twice the size of a breech.

Banks and credit card processors are naive to consider Internet sales such a greater risk than swipe thru transactions. Really, rarely does anyone ask for ID with a credit card purchase made in person ...

This is one reason I keep a separate debit card linked to a bank account that I keep less than $1.5K in just to limit my exposure to fraud on swipe thru and Internet transactions.
