Man Pulls Trooper Over For Alleged Speeding (VIDEO)

Quote:
Let's see how he likes it.

In a video uploaded last week to YouTube, a man identified as Brian Miner flags down an Illinois state trooper, allegedly because the officer was speeding and talking on his cellphone.

"You pulled me over with your horn, I don't know what that was about," the unidentified officer said.

"Because you were speeding and had your cellphone in your hand," Miner responded.

The officer then says "Police officers can actually use technology when we're driving."

The officer then asks Miner for his license and registration and, after asking him if he was speeding, says he's going to write Miner a ticket for "unlawful use of horn".

Then Miner tells the officer that he's being recorded and shortly after the officer decides not to write him a ticket.

The cop backtracking is hilarious...sounds just like a motorist responding to a cop - may have to use that excuse next time..."I wasn't sure how fast I was going", lies about using his cell phone, etc.

The trucker should have tried to give the cop a field sobriety test - "How much have you been drinking today, Officer?"

Illinois, eh?

He should try that in Ontario, Canada - see how it goes.

In Ontario - cops are permitted to speed in the performance of their duties and are exempted from the Highway Traffic Act for the use of cellphones.

ONTARIO REGULATION 366/09
made under the
HIGHWAY TRAFFIC ACT

Made: September 28, 2009
Filed: September 29, 2009
Published on e-Laws: September 30, 2009
Printed in The Ontario Gazette: October 17, 2009

Exemption for law enforcement officers

9. The following persons, while engaged in the performance of their duties, may drive a motor vehicle on a highway while holding or using a hand-held wireless communication device:

1. Police officers, within the meaning of the Police Services Act.
2. Special constables appointed under section 53 of the Police Services Act.
3. Auxiliary members of a police force.
4. First Nations Constables appointed under subsection 54 (1) of the Police Services Act.
5. Persons appointed under a statute of the Parliament of Canada and who are peace officers within the meaning of section 2 of the Criminal Code (Canada).
6. Persons appointed as police constables under section 44 of the Railway Safety Act (Canada).
7. Persons designated as park wardens by the Minister of Natural Resources or under the Canada National Parks Act (Canada).
8. Park wardens under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006.
9. Conservation officers under section 87 of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997.
Exemption for other enforcement officers
10. The following persons, while engaged in the performance of their duties, may drive a motor vehicle on a highway while holding or using a two-way radio:

1. Provincial offences officers designated under subsection 1 (3) of the Provincial Offences Act.
2. Municipal law enforcement officers appointed under section 15 of the Police Services Act.

Nope that would not fly with the OPP and it would probably be even worse if that was tried with the Quebec provincial police hehe

Yep - they could potentially charge the trucker with interfering with an Officer of the Court in the performance of his duties.

The cop indicated he was just heading back to the station - although I get your point, as I would not like to see a real emergency interrupted by a prankster, even though the prankster was trying to make a point too (and to some degree he succeeded).

no way would you do that in the uk.

i often giggle around shift ending time as i have often seen uk police put there lights on so they can nip through traffick lights and get off work sooner.

I see cops around here routinely exceed the speed limit by a small amount (10-15km/hr)... which is enough to get Joe Citizen a fine, but of course cops are exempt. If they were going to a job they'd be driving much faster.

Great video! Good for that trucker. Here in the US an officer may NOT break the speed limit unless he has some kind of emergency response or chase that he is involved in.
