Namecheap?

Cant purchase a thing via them, internal errors all the time, chat is helpless.
Alternatives where I could get a new domain and cheap shared hosting?

Namesilo is AWESOME, I have been transferring all of my domains from Namecheap to Namesilo...their backend is great, .com domains for $8.39 or cheaper (they have discount plans), FREE whois privacy for life, etc.

Namecheap actually hit me up the other day once they saw me transferring so many domains out and applied new pricing to my account so domains there are only $9.18 for me but it's still not cheap enough for me and on top of that the whois privacy is $0.99/per domain when NameSilo's is free.

never really knew they did domains.. That I prefer to buy my domains at a place that specializes in domains and host my sites at a place that does hosting great..

i like dynadot and they offer hosting but no idea how good it is. though unless you spent 5k or more with them the pricing isn't great.

I have never added funds to my account to pay for domains and I am on Namecheap at least twice a day and have never ran into any issues. CEO Richard K is actually a GFY user. ;)

I am still on name.com with price of 9.25$ and free whois,i know namesilo is cheaper but lack of security and support not giving a shit it's not really good things. Also it seems they delete your account if you register and dont order anything.Which is one more reason why i avoid them,i dont want one day see my domains gone because i didn't bother to read something or clicked on something.

I always add funds to Namecheap via paypal before paying and settle my purchases from those funds. It is quick and easy, just calculate how much you need and add that amount. Added bonus is the narrative on your credit card/bank statement doesn't mention any domain names.

I've never had any trouble with Namecheap. I renewed a few and bought a new one today. I didn't encounter any errors.

NameSilo seems okay I'll have to give them a go. But Namecheap appears to have been slowly losing their quality of service. Their current website is a mash between a really old design, an old design and a new design. Very confusing to use. Not as bad as Godaddy, but close.

As usual, neither did I, contacted their rep, they asked me to fill more details in my profile, ended up working, so, I believe it was giving an error due to some missing fields in my profile - probably their TOS changed or something.

Are you certain NameCheap's support is all handled via Russian/foreign outsourced staff now? I was under the impression that NameCheap is a North American (USA specifically) based registrar with in-house support. Can anyone confirm or refute that assumption?

I was actually looking at moving everything from NC and GD to namesilo. Glad to hear some positives. I like the 100% of the advertising revenue is kept by the user.

The fact that NameSilo's registrations, renewals and transfers are priced so reasonably AND includes things like WHOIS Privacy, DNS, etc. as part of the service versus an annual upsell is just a bonus.

My only disappointment is that they do not offer registry services for any of the new TLD's, of which I have invested strategically for a few domains, thus I had to register them elsewhere (NameCheap). So far NameCheap has indeed become by second-favorite registrar, but recent discussions in this thread, and elsewhere, have me considering migrating to another registrar for these new domains.

Namecheap has had a few Russian support people for years, but I think those Russians are located in the US. I have not had any issues with Namecheap, but I only use them for domains.

Hmm, so I'm talking to their live support right now about an issues I'm having with a hosted site, and the first chat rep needs to transfer me to someone else:

Quote:
Daria N.:
Please let me transfer this chat to the corresponding department in order for them to assist you better.
Evgenia Z. has joined the conversation.
I couldn't help but think of this thread...lol.

On another note, these people can't seem to help me with the issue. Ever since we switched to NC hosting, at random times, the site will redirect to some fucking youtube video of Justin Bieber tripping while playing basketball. Never had this problem before the switch. The first time it happened, it just stopped. The second time, they dug deeper and told me that my W3 Total Cache plugin had been compromised. I wiped the site of the plugin and its files, and things had been going good for awhile. Now, the redirect is rearing its ugly head again.

Any ideas?
