One thing is for sure...the Catholic Church ("catholic" means "universal") brought about 1,000 years of the DARK AGES. That was purely religious. Books were burned, scientists put to death, knowledge from past civilizations was lost.
We went from the Romans having running water to all of Europe living in squalor for a thousand years until the beginning of the Renaissance If the Dark Ages had never happened...mankind would be 1,000 years ahead in technology, knowledge, and civilization. Religion is not only pure superstitious nonsense...it's also what has held mankind back from progressing and it is also the reason for a LOT of killing and suffering. We'd all be better off if people would open their eyes and stop believing in fairy tales. |
