Population: 18 people and a whole bunch of grass-eating and very tasty cows, it's too bad that I doubt that any other gfyers will ever get to enjoy what I consider to be simply the best burger... ever.

In fact now that I'm thinking about it I'm thinking that I'll have to go there this weekend
Just looked this place up on Google Maps as I was thinking of checking it out next time I drive to SF, but it's in the middle of nowwhere--way off the beaten track. Would probably add three hours to my trip... is it worth it?

Indeed. Here in my town we have a burger restaurant called APA, they make excellent burgers.

The Red Robin here has great burgers. Fat Burger is great too. In N Out is always a treat (and a great price too). Five Guys is also great as is Fuddruckers.

But for some reason...none of them are quite as good as firing up your grill and making one at home.

I may be biased because I just ate it today, but DOG HAUS! Burgers with 4 Hawaiian bread rolls as the bun. It will eventually kill me, but for now, it gives me a mouthgasm.

Hmm, strange. I though every one agrees that local is the best. They usually take care of the product much more than huge chains. Plus huge chains have/like to cut costs. So it is strange that only one of your friends thinks that way

Of course not. "Best" burgers do not differ THAT much. You can most likely get the same quality somewhere on your tracks. Plus "best" is usually subjective, you can not measure how good it was in some real terms. It is very subjective, sometimes even irrational when not only taste but other things leads to believing it is best.

Great burger is great burger, no great burger is significantly better than another great burger. There is no magical one taht would warrant extra 3 hours

Thanks! that's another one within my range that I never heard of before, I usually prefer the little out of the way places but I'll try anything once.

Depends on where you're coming from, If you're going from LA to SF it's less than 25 miles miles off the 101, get off the 101 in San Miguel and take Indian Valley Road to Vineyard Canyon Road.
https://goo.gl/maps/FrpPF

Besides the great food in the cafe it's just kind of a unique place, Parkfield has a population of 18 people sitting right on the San Andreas Fault.

you have to cross the fault to get into the town

It has more earthquakes per year than pretty much any place else on earth.
There's a USGS Survey station, a rodeo grounds, a small lodge, a school and around 4 houses.

It's... peaceful

If you are coming up the 101 you can also take the 154 San Marcos Pass from Santa Barbara going toward the Santa Inez Valley and stop at another little hidden gem I recently found, Cold Spring Tavern on Old Stagecoach Road, Established 1865

White Mana in Jersey City, NJ. I would call them small hamburgers rather than sliders. Great burgers everytime I've gone in the past +/- 45 years.

theres this joint in my country that only has 2 things you can get with the burger: onion rings and hot peppers...nothing else is sold only the standard burger, in one size, one single product with 2 possible things you can put on it...the meat itself is seasoned with cheese and bacon and spices...if you do not like cheese and bacon then tough luck...

it is a seriously good burger

I don't know if they make the best burgers, but Carl Jr.'s definitely has the best burger commercials.

Speaking of overrated, five guys is ridiculously overrated. Liquid cheese that you get at the local fair and jalapeños that have no flavour at all. Their hot dogs are pretty good though...WITHOUT the cheese and jalapeños.

That sounds like an opportunity to sell a burger that better suits the consumer. Let them have it their way.
