I can't say for sure one way or the other. You may be right - the dollar figure might not be significant enough to generate interest.

But I plan to contact police on Monday and at least inform them...and generate an incident report number. I'll leave it to them if they choose to act further on it.

Alleged cancer scam artist recovering from jail assault- Calgary police say a man who allegedly faked having cancer as part of a fundraising scam has been arrested in B.C.

They say 28-year-old Kristopher Cook was arrested in Victoria after a tip from the public.

He'll be sent back to Calgary in the next few days.

Investigators say a silent auction was held by Calgary's music community last July to raise more than $7,500 for his cancer treatment.

Friends claim they did his work, paid his rent and took him to and from the hospital.

It was only later that friends began to suspect the money wasn't being used for anything medical, and questioned whether the man even had cancer.

Cook is charged with two counts of fraud.
