The US averages just 19 shark attacks each year and one shark-attack fatality every two years. Surfers accounted for 50.8%..
Sharks generally don't come into shallow water until later in the day / night.. Well they rest and hunt in deeper waters during the day. You have a greater chance of being killed by your coffee table than a shark.. Stay out of your living room...
