I agree. The media spoon feeding false hope of turning the electoral college is wrong, as is them blowing up the people protesting all day and saying Trump has to fix it.

The reality is Obama is currently president and needs to calm people and redirect their protesting to volunteering for organizations that are trying to fascilitate the change they want

I agree with this mostly. Although I think this is Trump's chance via his actions and appointments to telegraph that things will be ok. Not sure they will be, but it would be pretty easy for him to telegraph what he might do.

I think his Obamacare stance has been thoughtful so far. I am not sure it will last, but is shows some interesting sides of him. My biggest concern is when he does go off the rails on twitter, Pence's influence and his ability to not get sucked in to policies written by the uber conservative think tanks. I think this is where HRC experience would help, he is way to busy to read and comprehend what he is probably signing off on.

There have been 9 times in the past 100 years where someone in the electoral college voted for someone else, and has never affected the outcome.
Last time was when someone voted for John Edwards instead of Kerry for some reason..

Around 30 Republican electors would have to flip their votes to drop Trump to 269. There are already some Republican electors who have said they would not vote Trump. Flipping 30 might be doable. Kasich in Ohio, cCain in Arizona, and Graham in South Carolina might be able to flip some of their voters even without any help from Clinton.

Such a pipe dream. These guys are party stalwarts. They'd need 37 or 38 votes and all they have is two and possibly three people who have said they wouldn't vote for *Clinton*. Not one republican has said they'd do it. Plus, that would amount to a coup. The House would vote Trump in.

If this is what the democrats are bringing I'm worried we won't see another presidency for 12 years or more.

Majority rules is what they're hoping for.

The presidency is the only elected public office where they use an electoral college system for the winner.

All other elected offices in America that are not appointed are decided by majority vote.

I think people find it shady that a majority doesn't decide the most powerful office in the land, but 538 people do a month after people vote.

People from all over the country are in big population areas, it's not like they're in a born & raised big city bubble.

rules have been known before the election, election was held, people voted, winner was announced... seems pretty final to me, nothing debatable about it...

for next election there could be a debate and rules could possibly be changed, that's fair enough... but don't you think it's a bit nuts to even consider changing the rules for the current election after the fact?
