Commits suicide by hanging

Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington has committed suicide ... TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources tell us the singer hanged himself at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County. His body was discovered Thursday just before 9 AM.
Chester was married with 6 children from 2 wives.
The singer struggled with drugs and alcohol for years. He had said in the past he had considered committing suicide because he had been abused as a child by an older male

Imagine being so sad, depressed, or overwhelmed with something in your life (be it addiction, mental illness or whatever) that you feel like taking your own life is the only option left to you. These people don't do this stuff on a whim. Most of them have been thinking about it for a while and some have been trying to get help as well. This is the culmination of a long period of suffering, often suffering that has gone on for years.

When someone takes their own life, especially if they leave behind kids and family, it's a tragedy. Instead of calling them losers or bashing them, maybe we should be asking why they did it and try to figure out what could have been done to help them so that others may benefit.

He waited until his good friend Chris Cornell's birthday. No mention of a suicide note yet. No report on substances in his system.

I agree with your sentiment but did you ever think that maybe calling them out, calling them "losers" and "selfish", IS in fact helping future suicides? It's called Tough Love and there simply is not enough of it in today's society.

Often times a suicide is doing so to seek attention, the infamous "cry for help". Maybe if they realize that the kind of attention they will get by harming themselves is NOT the kind they crave they won't kill themselves. They think it will bring sympathy, sadness, revenge, and they will be missed and loved. How many people were abused? How many of them struggle that much decades after the abuse? Some are weaker than others.
