| Hes not making a profit on them as it is, so he can't drop costs. Musk made a mistake of claiming he'd make a profit this year. There are lots of companies that fail to turn profits for years, but he made the mistake of saying he'd do it this year. The only thing that matters is.. Does Telsa have money to keep operations going and pushing forward? The answer is yes, so Telsa isn't going anywhere. However Musk gave the haters some free ammunition. No one in the world would be able to start a major car manufacturing company and turn profits in just 10 years. Specifically when that company is reinventing the car.. |

And whose reporting is the $20b? He's also got Mars, Boring, SpaceX, solar and who knows what else. Ten years ago he was willing to foot the bill. He had fewer projects at the time.

 | Drop the cost of the car by 10% and get more people into them. More people driving them means more people need replacement parts and batteries and such. that's where he makes his money. Its what all the other car companies do.

they are currently in shutdown number 2 this year on the model 3 assembly line converting it from automated to human, as the automation experiment failed thoroughly. Oh, and the tax credit for the model 3 will be expiring soon, so the cost of the car will go up substantially. A sticky wicket indeed, especially for a CEO running several businesses and distracted by Mars.

 | I would love to see Tesla succeed and I'm sure they will. They have always thrown poo in the faces of naysayers and I'm sure they will do it again. Can't wait to own a Tesla car myself one day.

 | It is a shame that Musk has haters. He is one of the biggest minds of this age. He gave me back the hope that humanity is not completely retarded and we are hopeless. W/o Elon Mush we would be halfway to the age of Idiocracy

Unless he has half a million its not worth it. once he gets those orders and the Deposit money on them then he can hire more people. then make sure they are doing their jobs. Thats another issue he faces. I would love to see the production numbers per day.

 | You realize Amazon didnt turn a profit for 14 years? Uber isnt making a profit neither is Twitter.. Seems a lot of these newer techish companies dont turn profits for years. They live off investors for years before everything falls in place.

and Bezos is no hero. He's not giving his billions away to help others, he's stated he's going to blow it all on Blue Origin so he and his rich friends can go to the moon. Only the richest of the rich are going with musk or Bezos when that time comes. Uber? a trainwreck twitter? come on.

 | They need better marketing. They also need a "budget" car, a quick & easy vehicle that's not complex to produce and affordable for the average guy. Save the fancier models for the Big Spenders. Musk's elitism will be his eventual downfall.
