My Laptop has Packed up. Need Advice from Nerds

So last night my laptop (HP 15") froze and when it was restarted is said boot device could not be found.

I have tried a couple of fixes including enabling legacy support and forcing a reset. I can't run a disk check as it says not installed. I think the drive is shot. I could buy a new laptop but I love the one I have and would like to keep it if possible plus there are files on that drive I could do with so a couple of questions. 1. What is the easiest ways to recover the files from the drive? 2. How can I install windows on a new drive? I was using win 10 do I now need to pay for it, I got it as a free upgrade. Thanks |

Well, I'm not really into laptops, but first of all I'd try to boot from an external device, to see if you can reach the integrated hard drive, if you can, just copy the files you need and bring your device to the service for a hard drive change+windows install and you are ready.

If the drive is totally dead, you will need professional help to recover the data (it can cost quite a lot). |

Go to your local starbucks and find a dweeb using a new laptop sat out infront of it. Simply take his laptop and walk away with it. If he complains shout something loudly about your human rights.
