A president who has been accused of sexual assault multiple times just put a man accused of sexual assault on the Supreme Court.

Think about that for a moment.

If I don't agree with someone politically, then an accusation of anything is all the proof I'll ever need of indisputable guilt. I think I speak for most people here.

In any other case, its always innocent until proven guilty. Period.

Was there any accusations on the first nominee Trump put on the bench? I don't recall any.

Claiming that the only reason there was any accusations was because they didn't like this nominee is completely false. If this was the case, this would happen every time they tried to put a nominee on the Supreme Court. Obviously, that isn't the case.

You can start off answering your own question as to why by first acknowledging Trump will be in office another 6 years.. Secondly, Ginsburg is no spring chicken. Third, Senate Republicans will be up around 5 votes come Nov. If liberals didn't like Kavanaugh they REALLY aren't going to like Amy Barrett

Even if you set aside the sexual assault claims - and we shouldn't - Kavanaugh is objectively unfit to preside as a judge on any court. In his testimony he alleged (with zero evidence) that he was the target of a democratic conspiracy funded by big money interest for payback "on behalf of the Clintons". This is an extreme accusation which requires evidence, and Kavanaugh provided none. He peddled a conspiracy theory as a federal judge.

After leveling those ridiculous claims he was combative, argumentative, and unhelpful in his testimony. He has shown himself to be entirely partisan and incapable of legal objectivity. This - not the assault accusations - is why 2,400 Law Professors oppose his confirmation, along with the American Bar Association.

This is a great loss for everyone, Republican or Democrat, because it taints the Supreme Court with partisanship.

Do you have any direct evidence linking Soros and the Clintons to a smear campaign against Kavanaugh? Do you have any actual substantive reason to make that claim?

Soros is one of many big money interest in politics. Democrats don't level the same claims at the Mercers or the Koch brothers.

Mjeh, for fucks sake, look at the bigger picture. It isn't just supreme court, it is becoming a new global trend to accuse people of rape on all sorts of levels - specially after 10+ year period, after failing in other aspects of life.

You know, any straight guy pretty much does the same, in clubs, parties, etc. You just go in for a kiss and hope for the best (unless you're a beta fuck that negotiates about it for 10 days and never gets any action).

Know what the difference is? Chick will simply move her head or move away from a regular joe. However, when you're rich as Trump - guess what, they kiss you back.

Pretty much similar as what I wrote above - regular joe will get a kick in the balls or something even worse if he ever tries that. Trump on the other hand, really can do anything - because they LET him.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump paid off 1000 women during his long life, but most definitely not because of rape - he did it simply to avoid the hassle / newspapers / divorces.

Kinda like Asia Argento did.

That doesn't prove at all that there is a smear campaign designed to defame Kavanaugh on behalf of the Clintons. Many large republican donors contribute to the groups who supported Kavanaugh - like America First Policies and the National Rifle Association (source). Would you say there is foul play in the Republican advocacy groups since they're also supported by partisan billionaires?

Its really astounding to me that none of Trump's supporters seem to care that his fortune is built off defrauding the government. Not to mention that his oft-spouted claim of being "self-made" from a 1 million dollar loan is completely false - that he was given hundreds of millions of dollars illicitly. I have no idea why anyone would excuse this, let alone applaud it.

Trump's first rape accusation was in 1989

Then Jill Harth in 1997 she sued him for non-consensual groping "grab them by the pussy". Trump settled that suit

"Harth has stated that in December 1992, while dining with Trump and her then-boyfriend George Houraney, Trump attempted to put his hands between her legs.[1] Harth and Houraney visited Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida in January 1993 for a contract-signing celebration. Trump, according to Harth, offered her a tour before pulling her into the empty bedroom of his daughter Ivanka. "I was admiring the decoration, and next thing I know he's pushing me against a wall and has his hands all over me. He was trying to kiss me. I was freaking out." Harth says she desperately protested against Trump's advances and eventually managed to run out of the room. She and her boyfriend left rather than stay the night, as they had intended.[1] After she became engaged, Harth alleges, Trump began to stalk her.[3]"

I'm all up for investigating everything and everyone, but not by newspapers - I'd like an official investigation please, and it should have already happen since trump family is in business for like forever. I'll be the first to say LOCK HIM UP if they discover anything, trust me on that.

However, at this time in 2018... it is kinda hard to believe any "investigation" done by newspapers, coz you know, 99% of big news outlets have a pretty damn shady record when covering anything Trump related.

Official investigation and proofs = Lock him the fuck up.
Newspaper shit... sorry, no pasaran.

Settled, paid for it.
If she wanted him in jail, she shouldn't take the money. Same with any other such case.

However, as I said already, from his POV, I'd say it is much easier to spend some thousands than to be dragged through newspapers and all kinds of shit (regardless of what really happened).

As I said before, like Asia Argento did.

I really don't understand how they have a "shady" record. These same news organizations were trusted before Trump - so what changed? These are pulitzer-prize winning professional reporters. Are they all - at innumerable news organizations, some of them based offshore - part of some conspiracy to smear Trump?

In any event, you may get your wish. New York State authorities are investigating the claims made by the NYT: source here

His eternal IRS audits must have missed all that.

Well yes, that's generally the point of tax fraud - to commit financial crimes in a way that fools the IRS.

They don't care until it affects them negatively, which it will when the economy crashes, but then it will be too late and they will blame Democrats.

I really don't know what changed. I'm not into conspiracy shit but it was super obvious during campaign that a lot of very powerful people really wanted Hillary as president, and they didn't spare money to make it happen.

News bias was (and is) so supercharged that it was impossible not to notice it.

Funnily enough, it actually produced a counter effect with people being force fed such program.

These days there is no right or wrong there is only left or right. In many people's eyes if you are Republican, you defend your side no matter what. The same goes for the Democrats. Both sides do this, but it seems to be more prevalent on the right.

I take much of what is posted by the righties on GFY with a boulder of salt because I think they are mostly trolling, which is sad. If they aren't, and these are their real views, it is even sadder.

Trump said it himself when he said he could shoot someone in the middle of a Fifth Avenue and shoot someone and not lose any voters.

What is craziest is that the shit show has barely begun. Wait until the Mueller report comes back.

Here is a detailed list of 22 women who have accused him of sexual misconduct since the early 1990's.

This is what really scares me. I have no problem with people disagreeing, or voting with a different party from me, but I do find it alarming that so many people are willing to throw out evidence that doesn't suit them. I DO think this is far worse on the right - Trump outright bashes the media as "the enemy of the people", which, no matter how you vote, is truly disturbing. He has no problem doing this to government institutions like the FBI when it serves his purpose.

The exact same thing with Kavanaugh's testimony: Why is it OK for him to promote conspiracy theories against himself with absolutely no evidence?

I'm not surprised conservatives haven't posted this yet (I'm libertarian so I have no dog in this fight - Brett K's 4th Amendment jurisprudence is HORRIBLE but his economics jurisprudence is OKAY so I'm conflicted)

Thank God, he deserves it. They should jail the puppet that accused him. When they couldn't get the accusation to stick, they started attacking his character saying that he was repulsive... Who the fuck wouldn't be if some trashy thot was trying to ruin your life's work? He handled himself modestly giving the situation. Any normal person would go nuts if they were the accused.

The USA is a sad place these days indeed; a mere relic of a genuine, noble democracy.

But it shouldn't be like this. It was so painfully obvious this was a bad decision. Long before the accusations came to light he was the most unpopular nominee we've had in a very VERY long time. When you have that, the one side pushing for it should stop for a moment and say "Why is this the most unpopular candidate".

People are trying to argue that the main accuser made up the accusations. Really? Does anyone honestly believe that a fifty something year old college educated woman is going to risk everything by lying under oath in front of the US Senate just because Democrats put her up to that? No, I refuse to believe that. If that was remotely true this would happen with every Supreme Court justice. No one came forward and accused the first man Trump nominated and put on the Supreme Court.

What's happening here is obvious. Trump - and the Republicans - want to put their man on the Supreme Court RIGHT FUCKING NOW because there is a damn good chance that after the midterms they won't be able to.

It's disgusting. When Obama tried to put someone on the Supreme Court at the end of his term the Republicans insisted they wait. Oddly enough now there is a huge mad rush to push this true.

Whatever. Let's see what the midterms bring. If Democrats sweep the midterms it will be very dangerous for Trump. They will be able to launch investigation after investigation. You can take politics out of it - Usually the party who has control of the Oval Office loses in the midterms.

Eventually there will be many, many more investigations. The wheels of justice move very slowly. This is just starting. Watergate and Whitewater took six years each. We are not even at the half way point yet.
