That's some good news. I was not aware that there was actually a way to avoid death but according to this article in the Post you can, simply by not eating fried potato things.

"A study published last year in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that those who ate fried potatoes two to three times a week were at a higher risk of mortality than those who ate their potatoes in other ways."

So, by what that says, if you eat a lot of fried potato products on a regular basis then you are more likely to die than if you don't. So cool!

But, it does not say that in the article. It says that fried potatoes have been linked to those 3 things but then the article states that you have a higher risk of mortality without any qualifiers.

Higher risk of mortality means you are more likely to die with the logical inference being that if you do not eat Fried potato products you are less likely to die.

I think they are just saying that eating fried foods speeds up individual mortality. It's a commonly used term among academics and scientists I think.
