A man was charged with identity theft after police realized that he clearly did not resemble his potential victim.

Police arrested Julian R. Mitchell, 20, of Nashville, Tenn., after he attempted to use a stolen debit card at a bar on Thursday. It was “plainly obvious,” according to the arrest affidavit, that Mitchell did not resemble the person he was attempting to impersonate.

In the arrest affidavit, obtained by Fox 17, the bar’s system was notified that the card Mitchell attempted to use to pay was lost or stolen. As a result, he was asked to provide an ID, and it became evident that the height, weight and photo did not match Mitchell’s appearance.

Metro Police told Fox 17 that Mitchell denied using the man’s driver’s license; however, after searching the suspect, the victim’s wallet was found in Mitchell’s fanny pack, with a number of cards that belonged to the victim.

Mitchell was booked into Davidson County Jail and is currently being held on a $25,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 4.
