How our industry has changed.. for the better

Since arround 2015 I have been A technology evangelist, focused on public cloud and digital transformation. Meeting some of the smartest people in Tech and Business and seeing some of the potential future technologies.

I just retuned from AWS Summit Switzerland in Baden, right outside the beautifil city of Zürich - how I love that place and the people. Being born in Denmark, I have benefited from living in a country in the top of Global Innovation Index, but Switzerland might not be in the top of that index, their business mentality and Venture Capital investments more than makes up for it.

What Im trying to say is: There is no point in being innovative, if you dont get shit done!

You know you have moved forward if:
- You no longer spend money on 'undifferentiated heavy lifting'
- Leverage Mashine learning/Reinforcement learning to understand and utilize the individual guests potential
- Understand the value of traffic rather than content

Casestudie:
Look at companies like Ringier AG(Revenue: more than 1 billion), they started out as a media company, just like most in this industri. But they dont make a dime on their magazies today, and dont intent to either. But they still pay for the content, because it generates traffic, and that traffic is gold.

If you indentify the industry with what people once did (making galleries and running TGP's) then you dident really understand the industry. Have our industry has changed? maybe it have just expanded, to include both the fosils and the inovators at the same time.

The German physicist Max Planck said that; science advances one funeral at a time. I'm not saying we should kill all those stuck in 2005-8, but maybe we should just kick them out of the train at the next stop, and move forward? Because I'm dead-tired of listening to them compare what-was to whats-next, especially when they hardly understood the what-was to begin with.

When Christopher Columbus discovered the new continent, I am pretty sure there were a deck-boy named Paul, scrupping the floor and being fuck in the ass the big boys every night. Did the fact that they discovered a new continent make the deck-boy a innovator by just being there? If that boy was alive today, he would still be scrubbing floors on one of the few sailboat's left, and still complaining about there not being new places to discover or indians to kill, completely oiblivious of the planes with goods and turist flying over his head, and the submarines with warheads passing underneath him. That deck-boy dident change the world or the industry - he just happened to be there when it did.

This used to be the porn industry, now with that in financial decline some want to think it's the technology industry. An industry that has grown and become financially huge.
