1st Digital Drawing Tablet

I can draw fairly well on paper but have always had trouble drawing on the computer.

I have had the Wacom tablets where you have to watch the screen while you draw and where the movement for drawing was more natural than a mouse, it was still difficult for me to get use to it.

I have seen the direct screen drawing tablets from Wacom a few years ago but their price tags were a little rich for my budget. Still wanting to direct draw on screen and thinking I can do this on my phone, I started searching for alternatives.

So, I looked at 100's of digital tablets, read many reviews and was like FUCK!! This is going to be a gamble and it could be an expensive one based on the model and brand.

After careful consideration, I went with the XP-PEN Artist 12. It said it was compatible with a lot of different software and Mac and Windows... Found out later that Linux is supported too.

I just received it yesterday but so far, it is AWESOME! The pen is very responsive and great pressure sensitivity. On windows there are no issues. My graphic card only has 2 HDMI ports on it, the other 2 are a little different, forget the name... so I have it plugged into the Intel mother board card. No issues... however, in Linux, it will not read from both cards. No worries, I can use it with my laptop or my other PC where I am not using dual monitors.

If this thing has any durability to it, I will invest into a larger one. The total screen on this one is only 11.6"... but for 199.00 it was well worth it. Just the base model, not the pro version.

If you are looking for an inexpensive solution for digital drawing, this is a really good product. Granted, it's not Wacom, but it also does not have the Wacom price tag. Looking forward to upgrading to the 24" model
