Where to purchase black powder rifles in Los Angeles?



I used to own an 1853 Springfield re-make. What a beautiful weapon.
Great for slow moving targets.

I'm thinking single action .44 revolver. No rifles for me.... plenty of place to shoot in the neighborhood for sure.

Might order an army colt from Dixie, no shipping issues

I am curious about cap and ball. Do ranges allow them? Will they make smoke go everywhere at an indoor range?

Those are great revolvers. Have to be very careful on the loads though. At a re-enactment many years ago I saw a guy lose a few fingers when all the loads went off at once. And that was without it being a "hot" weapon.
Still, they are a lot of fun to shoot.

So far black powder is classified as antiques, not a firearm. No registration. Even convicted felons can have antiques.

If someone comes in your house a cap and ball .44 will end any awkward discussions about who property is in your house.

If you need more than 1 or 2 shots to finalize a break-in you need to practice AND you stand a better chance of not killing your neighbors though a wall.

AND single action cap and ball pistols are fun to shoot. And in your house at night, the sound and the flash and the smoke is terrifying.

Best advice I ever got about gun work is go into dark room at night and shoot that fucker a few times.

Any gun can blow back crap onto your hand. If your not expecting that, the noise, the flash will make you drop the gun at worst and a best miss the shot

I never had the entire chamber go off but I've had 2 rounds go off at once. Everybody uses grease these days. Grease stops the spark going to another chamber. Think of loading your cap and ball like packing a parachute. Pay strick attention to the job.

I've heard guys say they have had loaded cylinders in the gun safe for as much as 3 years and they are reliable.
