If rip tide is more possible then nobody should surf or swim at the beach.
It's a good warning to tie your boat down at the marina.

exactly this...

a wave is usually just a wave, a tsunami brings a tide with the wave, so it continues to flow in and anything beyond the beach can be drenched in water, water damage to buildings can be tragic
