(Your) porn sites before 2009? Writing a blog for PornDude

I am currently working on a blog post that explores the history of the adult internet, and I would love to see some of the porn sites that you have worked on in the past – whether they were launched or not.

Is there anything that you are particularly proud of or that you think would be interesting for me to feature in the post?

Please share some interesting porn sites, I would love to hear about it.

Pictures with some fun facts please

It's time to dig out those old hard drives and dust off some PSDs!

Ah

I am wondering how the cam site looked and what programming language it used.

Who was responsible for the design of the site?

I actually made it myself in Macromedia Dreamweaver. It was pretty crude but it was in the gay niche and the guys didn't care. In fact I think they preferred it. In 2008 I had it redesigned my wolume/wyldesites ( I can't remember which one ) before I closed it in 2009 and started on my blog network

Dreamweaver = fun

Did you host your cams, or did you act like an aggregator or maybe with use of API or some embedded methods?

I wouldn't call it hosting a cam. Back then streaming video was quite expensive. I think it was 300 to 500 month for a video stream and it had limits of people who could watch concurrently. If I recall it was 8 to 16 people. It also had a bit rate limit

A lot of people used picture refresh webcams. Which would take a new picture every 2 secs and upload it. Kind of like a flipbook

I thought he only had one.

The problem he had was he set up the site after years of selling his content (cheap).

As such most people had seen his content already.

Also the website name he had for me did not work, as it was he name or something. PaulMarkhamRteens.com and most people did not know who Paul Markham was. He would have been far better having teenbabes.com or something like that.

It also felt like most of his content It was well shot), was old stock from the times of selling to UK porn magazines.

But his main problem was he set up his site late, with content that many sites were already using.

I often think he should have found a single model, and set up a solo model site that was an attractive english model shot all over, with his old content as a bonus, that he would have done well.

Remember before he had his site, we had lots of solo model sites doing well, such as inbedwithfaith.com.

And the thing was, unlike most sites that set up, Paul Markham was a pro photographer and knew how to take pics.

But he lacked the understanding of the net. But then again many people who had a magazine porn background or indeed VHS porn market, did not understand the internet, and most have not done as well as they should have.

And in fairness to Paul Markham, I think in many ways he was still doing things better online, than playboy even has. I do not mean in terms of sales, I mean in the fact he set up a site and stood to his style, rather than playboy just putting out lots of sites that never felt like playboy content.

However we also must accept that in many of the online years both Paul Markham and his wife had health problems, that probably took up a lot of there time, so i think too it is understandable that his site may not have had the attention it could have had.

He also did post a lot of things in marketing I agreed with, or at least his remarks even when wrong had a basis of thought.

The inbedwithfaith.com may be worth making a blog about.

It seemed at one time that this was the number one solo babe site going.

This is or was an English site. A model who I have met and got pics of her on my car, was a lovely lady.

In fact I was asked to take pics of her for the site, but turned the offer down. I am glad I did as I felt the style they chose was better than I could have done. And I suspect the site would have not done as well with my style. In fact at that point I had just started and had no idea what I was doing.

The site was run by two chaps.

I do not think they expected how well things would go.

In the end for some reason (I know but will never say) they split up.

So then one of them set up a 2nd site with faith (not her real name).

Now inbedwithfaith.com was basically topless.

So site two was her and I believe her boyfriend at the time, doing full sex.

However I think faith and her boyfriend split up and site two had not much content.

So now you have all faiths fans joining to see her have sex, then leave due to lack of content, and from what I gather the first site gets less joins because it is only topless and at this point a LOT of the content is pirated all over the web.

I think then inbedwithfaith.com moved to nude and open leg and I think toys. But I do not think it ever made the money it did (I could be wrong).

I think other things were interesting was they went from ccbill to that system (I forget the name) that charges a monthly fee then back to ccbill again.

Along with inbedwithfaith.com they had a few other sites. One had a model who was reported by the Sun to have had sex with a well known actor from EastEnders and a well known football chap.

My understanding is faith is no longer a model, and things have not gone well for her. In deed a few years ago she was in the news after being involved with a crime and she seems to look a lot different now.

But I miss the days of inbedwithfaith.com. They did a lot of things correct, and I wish I had started after them, and not before, as I would have done things a lot differently. For instance I think I may have rather than shot many models, just stuck with a single model that was exclusive to me and local. As at the time solo model sites were doing very well.

In many ways inbedwithfaith.com was the blueprint to onlyfans. By this it was a next door girl site that felt more personal to the fans, than any site at the time, or even today. Only onlyfans has made the leap of the model being in contact with the members.

One site I was a huge fan of, is simonscans.com. The site is still live, and he may still be shooting.

But this was for many years one site I thought had the best content going.

A mistake I felt he made was he started with ccbill then seemed to switch from one thing to another. I think he is back with ccbill. But the problem doing this tends to be those who promote you as an affiliate stop because they have to keep changing the links.

It has been something I noticed that it may have been a mistake (huge mistake) by many sites to go from ccbill to other systems as I often suspected many affiliates simply could not be bothered with new links, and probably annoyed if there rebills stopped. Unless I am wrong the onlytease.com sites (also worth talking about in your blog), have only been with ccbill.

But for many years this site had content that was well lighted, with hot model, not doing just toys but very wide open leg shots.

For many years this seemed to be the site people talked about.

For some reason, it is a site that you do not hear about at all these days.

/OFF TOPIC: Anyone remember the 'Secret' SN? I couldn't believe it when I found out!

There was basically a SN, which fully activated ANY of the macromedia programs from trials to full versions - A 'back Door' if you like - Nothing sketchy or dodgy - Just download Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, etc Edit: See Screenshot from site via wayback machine

So you could download ANY of those products, direct from macromedia.com & enter the same SN to any of them., and they became full 'legit' products, just as if you had bought them!

I even think I still have the SN somewhere - Gonna go look before I hit 'Post'

i joined the Petter Hegre team in 2002 when he moved to Portugal and formed a web team. before that i built the first cms for the Ford service network (manuals and catalogs). the Ford site sucked but it got me recruited out of the states and away from my first wife.

our team at Hegre converted his coffee table books into a website that earned several million its first year.

i left after a year (visa issues) but his site is still live:
https://www.hegre.com/

when i got back to the states i lived on a mountain in WV and built some small niche sites. i built them in a couple days and launched them fast. that's where plsureking comes from. the company was called Pleasure King Studios

here's one example we launched right before spring break and it made $5k its first weekend. freshman spring break:

i only mention it as an example at how fucking easy it was to make money during the online porn gold rush. shit design, shit content, pretty shitty marketing (tgps!), and ccbill approval was easy. $20-30k a month was light effort.

my biz partner died so i closed the sites and did some corporate work for a couple years in DC.

then Matt's Models recruited me to rebuild and manage his site. i did that familiar flag in the corner redesign and built a cms for it.

early days Matt.

me working hard.

here's a screenshot from the 2006 rebuild.

Matt's site shut down in 2008 with the housing market crash. he tried to revive it a couple years ago but i think he realized he owed too many affiliates and staff money.

after Matt's site closed i moved to Thailand and built PornCMS.

the only old school notable site we built on the cms back before 2009 was Fantasy One. their content goes back to the 80s with Becky LeBeau. they shot most of the early Playboy models (and still do).

that site is still up on the cms:
https://www.fantasyone.com/

ya i know, this is too much boring shit about me. i hate talking about myself, but it seemed like a good way to put the history of these sites on a timeline. these three producers were important names in early porn.

It still exist, but it went cost crazy - you cant no longer buy it at once, you need to buy subscription. As we live in era of wordpress/insta CMS systems, using such programs is obsolete.

yea crackers. totally never used one for anything like Photoshop or Windows

i learned web dev building sites in college for the departments so i learned on Lotus Domino. then Miva, Coldfusion, and finally LAMP. Dreamweaver was in there somewhere but it was too simplified. drag and drop is a hinderance when you can code.

No, not a 'Cracker' - Just a universal Serial Number that gave you full access.

Nothing third party involved at all. There was also one for 'Pinnacle Studio 7' - That was just all 'Sevens' - Not only did that take the trial to full program, but also unlocked all the bonus music libraries and effects that they charged for separately.

First thing I used to build a 'site' was 'Frontpage Express' - Then, onto Dreamweaver, but after that I paid others to do my important stuff for me

Yeah, that does ring a bell for sure. I scoured those warez sites for codes and crackers to get free copies. I definitely didn't pay for the first copies, but god knows how much I've spent on Adobe software over the years... and I'm still paying $6-700 a yr for the subscription

I also used a dreamweaver, and made the first site in general in Word. I also remember simonscans.com. Only I liked the site of another Simon more - suburbanamateurs.com. I even had webmaster access to it and to onlytease.com to create galleries and post them in tgp's. Nostalgia.
My between-legs.com is also online since 2003. It will be 20 years in March. The design has not changed since those glorious times.
