That cassette has been in my family since the 80's. We all watched it all the time. And that old NYC nostalgia, was wild times but the city don't look or feel like that anymore. Sometimes I miss that authenticity. I can literally smell that movie. Hard to explain.

Gives me the feels every time.

Same, but to a lesser degree: New Jack City, Sugar Hill, Juice, King of New York, Clockers, Above the Rim, Fresh.

Now sit back... I'mma tell you something. I worked on Man of Steel, building the main Henry Cavill suits, at a Specialty Costume shop called Frontline Design. The owner of Frontline (Shownee Smith) and and I cut our teeth in the fx shops together. He went down the costuming path, and ended up building the Tobey Maguire SpiderMan suits.

* Side note: Anytime you see Spiderman in full costume, it's a guy named Chris Daniels doing all the cool iconic poses.

Shownee eventually hired me to work for him on Man of Steel, and we worked together again for several more years.

I eventually went back to the fx shops. But Shownee was a shop owner and they have different stresses... and so one day Shownee decided to start robbing banks.

Bro... he robbed 10 banks! And got caught on the 11th bank!! Look him up, he's "The Dual Valley Bandit" in Los Angeles. (San Fernando and San Gabriel valley banks... hence the name)

He called me a few days before he got arrested to hire me back for a gig, but I was working and couldn't do it. I called him that Saturday morning to tell him I couldn't take his offer. Hours later he was arrested coming out of a bank. No one had any clue he was doing this until he got caught.

Soooo.... next time you watch Man of Steel. Remember that.
