ABOUT 'PONTINS' Holidays...

My life in 2023? Well let me take you back to my childhood. We never had a lot of vacations when I was young. We were not 'poor' but going away wasn't something that we really did as a family. Except for once a year. At Xmas...

There was this place that was like a stately home - Barton Hall - See pic & Link. It was just down the road really. About half an hours travel, but it could have been miles away - It was like another world...

We would arrive the night before Xmas Eve & stay until just before New Year. So almost no sooner had I arrived, then the main event, 'Xmas Day' was over and done with, and then there was like this 'Lull' before the new year came along, & we returned home, when time kinda stood still...

Those few days were my favourite part of the year! Why? Well, I was somewhere that I really like to be. I had zero worries, responsibilities, & I could truly just do whatever I wanted to do, from morning to night. I'd received some money for Xmas (Not a fortune, but enough for a child) yet I had no where really to spend it, so by default, for a week or so, I was 'Rich'...

Likewise, I had always got some stuff I had wanted for Xmas, so I didnt really 'want' for anything either - I had everything I wanted (My 'Toys') and I had a free week to enjoy them... I was truly happy in that week, before the new year... Best part of my life that week was as a kid...

So, whats that to do with 2023?

Well that 'week' has expanded to being all year round these days. In 2023, I've managed after a LOT of hard work, to make that feeling I used to get, on that last week of the year as a child, the 'Status Quo' - So I feel like that all year round... Plus I also get to poost about poo on GFY too - So that's a bonus I didn't have when I was little...

So no worries, no responsibilities, do whatever the fuck I like, plenty of toys & no money worries... Thats my life in 2023...

Because I never bought a house in Canada, I feel like my life is being squeezed from every direction. Post-COVID Canada seems like a nightmare place to live, and I can't leave because I have my kid here and I cannot abandon my child.

yea there's more than one type of life available in Thailand. up in the rice fields its peaceful and fun, but its all DIY. last night until 2am i was repairing a broken water pipe buried in concrete. there's also hundreds of thousands of foreigners living the paradise life in the tourist areas and Bangkok.
