POLL! When you switch off your PVC for the night...
Do you still go to start / power / shutdown, (like the old days) or do you just hit the power button on the PC?

After I back up my files to 2 drives / check for updates (once a week) - yes I always do the start - power - shutdown. There are many good reasons for doing this that you can google

I don't think I've ever shut down a desktop, even in the 90s.
