Buy a cat to speed it up?

Reinstall the mouse drivers and reboot.

Got to the prefs for gfy and remove the cookies, then reset them. Should work. I had the same prob and fixed it that way.

muff, thx, but i already know that. that's i have the mouse set to fast, but it's still slow. it's something else that's fucking it up!!!

i've tried mind control too, just doesn't work for some reason ?!?!

did you try cleaning the wheels on the inside or making sure your on a flat surface. Sometimes the weight of your monitor on your desk can make it bow in the middle and fuck up the alignment of the ball inside.

Hope that helps.

HQ.

With oticals the pad is the prob. You have to get a new pad. The "eye" can't read the faded lines or...the depressed area becomes a hard thing for the "eye" to read.

Opticals are all crappy. Do yourself a favor and get a cordless. MS's is ok for a cheapy but Logitech makes the best ones.

I love my opticals, the problem is never with the mouse --- its always the system, I guarantee you that

yeah the problem is definitely not with the mouse. ezekiel, thx for the help, but i got an optical mouse, so there is no wheel! and Wilber, i'm not even using a pad, never had... and it worked fine before.

it's the fucking game that crashed that fucked it up... it's something to do with the mouse settings (but not the settings you can actually change in windows). something much more technical than that. games and apps that have their own GUI (instead of using windows') change the mouse settings somehow, and if they crash, they don't reset them. it's gotta be some sort of registry entry (is my guess).

thx for the help though.

in fact, this has happened to me plenty times before. but after a reboot, windows has always reset the mouse settings properly. this is the first time a reboot hasn't corrected the problem.

i think i may have to reinstall windows!

HQ, come on man, you're a GAMER and you have a shitty mouse like that ??? Get yourself a Razer Boomslang 2000 !! That's what I have and it's FUCKING AWESOME !! MUCH better than any of the optical mice that are out there. It is a ball mouse, but what's inside is like no other mouse. Here's a link to check it out - http://www.razerzone.com/products/features.html

Sure the Boomslang 2000 is $99, but once you get it and get used to it, it's the best mouse you'll ever use.

Hmmm, if you've got the mouse installed on usb, try moving it to serial port, or vice versa -- for some crazy reason when I moved, my computer at home (I use the same type of mouse and keyboard at work and home) lost the usb settings for the mouse. So I moved it to a serial port and it was fine then --

reinstalling another game won't do anything. games only change the mouse settings when they run, and change them back when they quit. i've run the game again and quit (which should reset the settings) and it doesn't. very very weird

reinstalling windows will probably fix it. but i have to do some backing up just incase anything is lost when i do this.

Kimmykim, i tried it and it didn't change anything

Slick, you can't beat optical! you never have the problem of the mouse not responding due to a dirty ball! don't u ever run into that with your ball mouse?? it is a very cool mouse otherwise though!

HQ, my Boomslang 2000 is one of the cleanest ball mice that I've ever had. I RARELY have to clean it. The thing that's neat about the Boomslang is that it's designed so that shit doesn't get into it as easy.

As far as it comparing to an infared mouse. It has the best of both words, it uses lights and prisms inside the mouse to watch the wheels that spin as the ball moves them. Here's how they state it <img src=http://www.razerzone.com/products/images/boomslang_callout.jpg>

If you look at all of the gamers leagues and contests, MOST of the best gamers use the Boomslang, it's a BADASS MOUSE !! ha ha ha.

Oh yeah, you say that you can't beat optical, well yours doesn't seem to be too good if you're bitching about it, ha ha ha ha.

One last thing, what's the DPI on an intellimouse ?? The Boomslang is 2000 DPI !!! Talk about precise, he he.

haha! let's do it!!!

actually there is ONE complaint i have about my mouse. if u move it really really fast, it acts as if it's not moving at all or moving backwards. this only happens in games like UT when u go to do a 180. it never happens to me, cuz i have the mouse sensitive enough so that i never have to move it that fast.

your mouse is sounding a bit better... but i love the optics... no cleaning ever! why don't they release an optic mouse with 2000dpi!!??

well if all else fails, take the mouse, throw it on the floor and stomp on it. You'd have nothing to lose by that --

HQ, you'd better get a Boomslang 2000 then. Like I say, I'll have the advantage !!! ha ha ha. Seriously though, the mouse seems awkward at first, but once you get used to it, you'll fall in love with it. I have a buddy that comes over every now and then and he loves the mouse, but he doesn't wanna dish out $99 for the thing.

See, you even ADMIT that there's flaws with your mouse, he he. I can whip my mouse all over and it never misses a move.

Juge, we should do it up one of these days, it'd be great to get a game going. Someone should host a game, give out their IP and the rest can jump on in. That'd be a blast.

I might be a little rusty at UT since Everquest has ruled my life for the last 9 months now, but I'm sure that I can shake the cobwebs out quickly, he he he.

I use some 3$ mouse - it gets the job done. When it gets dirty (about a month) i buy another 3$ mouse
Same with keyboard - i use some 5$ kb - cause I always fuck up kb's - I spill coke and food on kb's all the time - so i don't but expensive kb's.
