I want to start doing some new stuff with adult webmastering... so I think I want to try shooting some of my own content! Problem is, I dont know everything there is to know about it. So let me ask a few questions and maybe some of you experienced guys can give me a few pointers.

What sort of equipment do you reccommend for shooting both pics and video? I'm not looking for the super-professional stuff but not the cheap things either... (I want to make good quality content)

What are some good methods of getting the models?

How much do you pay the girls for softcore, usage of dildos/toys, or hardcore shoots? I'll be working exclusively with college girls around my age who most likely have never done a shoot before - and I know many of them aren't loaded with cash - does this mean I can possibly get away with paying a bit less?

Finally any suggestions anybody might have for me? If I can go through with this it should be fun

no prob. I can tell you guys what we have done. Kush, we run dormangels.com - - so I'm particularly interested in working out an arrangement with you. Hopefully we could get 1 new Texas sweet heart a month. =)

For the stills we bought a Olympus C - 3000. It runs between $550 and 600. It can also work for short videos - up to 60 seconds.

When you want longer videos. We also bought the CanonDV. It's a good little camera. 800 bones. I'm convinced that there are better sony's out there...but it gets the job done.

Candidly...you'll only need the olympus for the first few months.

That's it. We have our cameras and our laptops. (If you don't have a laptop...i would recommend getting one. When you do shoots away from home...it's nice to be able to download the pictures to the laptop during the shoot...so you don't run out of space on your memory cards. (we have a 64 mb card, it can hold 80ish images at higher quality resolutions). Otherwise you can just buy more memory cards.

My laptop recommendation - a dell(1600-2000) - I have a toshiba($1200-1500). Have had lots of problems with the network card and USB ports. The dell that my biz partner has ...has worked great. And the Dell's sound card is out of this word.

Getting models... starts out a slow process. Make yourself some flyers to post around college campus'. Post them every couple of days - - because the feminazi's/religious doogooders will take them down almost as soon as you post them.

Once the word gets out that you do these shoots... that you're not a freak...and you pay really well... people will start coming to you.

I pay a referral fee to anybody that recommneds a girl that we use. 50 bucks. Now my buddies that are hard up for cash - go out and try to recruit girls for me. It's great.

for softcore .66 - 75. cents an image. (about 100$ an hour). If we know we are going to buy a toy or bras/panties we pay her .66 - - it still works out to 100$ an hour - - cuz she gets to take home the toys/clothes.

for lesbian - we are paying 1$ to each girl per image. We haven't done a hardcore - but it would be in that area. Don't rachet up the price unless you think you have to.

if both girls are lesbians...they are going to do the shoot for the same price another girl will do the softcore. If they are kinky freaks...they will do the hardcore for about the same money.

YES - because these are first timers they will do the shoots for less money. Because these are college girls you get paid $6.75 - 8 an hour... they are going to be blown away by the cash they can make.

But we try to be fair. we could probably get away with paying a little less... but we pay about 75-100 an hour. have food and drinks at the shoot and sometimes underwear and toys for them. We're just nice guys. But it's also good business... hot girls have hot friends. If they liked the work enviroment...they'll send them your way.

JUICY links... legal info. You want to get age verification. copy of drivers license with a signed statement verifying that is her...and that she is over 18.
And you want to get a model release form...saying that you can use the images that you are taking of her. Both can be found on the internet. I would suggest having a lawyer at least look them over. But I realize that can be expensive.

As for working out some sort of arrangement I'm very openminded (there's 25,000 FEMALE undergrads at UT so lots to work with there). I'm actually leaving for Austin in a couple hours (long drive) so I'll contact you when I get settled. This should be an interesting, fun, and hopefully profitable experience

And anybody else please feel free to add to this post with whatever - it should prove to be an excellent resource for other webmasters in the future as well

Things you need nikon D1 or D1X there expensive but the best around, some lenses 50mm 85mm and maybe a 80-200 2.8. Then lights some tungsten lights like tota lamps and nice backdrops or sets. If you do it right you will make a lot do it like shit and you wont make much.

Besides being a adult webmaster I'm a fine art photographer.

I pay the model $50/hr for stills, $50/half hour for video. I have found that the only really effective way of getting girl-next-door models (rather than hookers, escort service girls, and exotic dancers) is to advertise in the kind of publications gals in their late teens and twenties read (mainly edgy entertainment-oriented weeklies).

I, too, use the Olympus C-3000-Zoom and can't imagine when I'll want an upgrade of any sort. I'm not even shooting at its maximum resolution. A shoot generally consists of filling two 65Mb SmartMedia cards with about 150 photos each (1600x1200 mildly-compressed JPEG's). A typical shoot runs about 2.5 hours. So, I pay about $125 for a shoot and get about 300 photos out of it.

I have a content business going using these methods. My site is currently down for a server move and redesign, but will start coming back online in a week or so. In the meantime, you can see what the Olympus C-3000-Zoom can do by visiting http://www.girlsdotcom.com

Your biggest problem will be learning the legalities and also deciding for yourself how you will handle those areas that are gray or that even the experts don't agree on.

It looks like you have those full-sized photos compressed somewhat (they're only around 30K), are those what full sized non-compressed images look like, or am I mistaken? I'm hopefully shooting content not this weekend but next.

Kush, make sure you avoid these blunders, like some of us did

1) Make sure you plan the motel you will bring her in properly. So get in there, rent a room, install all your stuff and shoot one of your friends, you will see immediately the light adjustement you need to make. Also, make your friend move a little on the bed, see how the pics turns out. This will probably save your first photoshoot session from disaster.

2) Make sure your quipment works before you do a shoot. There is nothing like paying 700$ for 3 girls on a defective camera

3) Try to learn if their boyfriend is the captain of the football team, this can be very valuable information

This is all basic stuff, but we all made mistakes like that at one point or another.

You're not referring to "full-size" samples. Those are simply bigger than the thumbnails. My full-size images are 880x660 and since more or less compression is available depending upon how much opportunity for compression is in the shot (more large solid areas mean more compressibility), the files vary in size from 50K to 180K. They average somewhere around 100K (this is across all of my sets, not any particular set).

Photos for web use have to be compressed somewhat, or even as JPG's the file sizes would be huge. I generally compress at an industry standard 15% (or 85% depending upon which way of figuring you do). Anyway, that means 15% off the least amount of compression JPG allows. This yields a quality that is largely indistinguishable from "uncompressed" without actually putting them side-by-side and zooming in on them.

Some of you will be amazed that all of the photos I do lately are done with all of my lighting on the camera (plus sunlight). I use the built-in flash on my Olympus C-3000-Zoom and their optional accessory flash which goes on a sidebar and has a swivel head. I use the swivel head to bounce light off the ceiling, which largely cancels the light from my built-in flash.

What is the advantage here? Well, very low equipment cost. Also, I don't have to tip off the hotel management that I'm a photographer by carrying in the sort of cases that scream "equipment." I can look like an ordinary check-in.

When in a hotel room, put anything that might identify the hotel out of sight. Without those, a hotel room is just a collection of "off the shelf" furniture. With them, you are probably in much greater peril of legal difficulties.

Digital photography is definitely the way to go. I generally start a shoot around 1 p.m., finish around 3:30 p.m. and have the photos on display by 9 or 10 p.m. With film, I wouldn't even have it back from the lab (if it's a quality lab) until the next day at the earliest. And then if I shot 8 rolls of film, I could look forward to about 16 hours of scanning as well.

I don't allow male partners after the initial meeting. They can drop the girl off and pick her up afterward. Also, if I find myself negotiating with him instead of her, I go to the next name on the list. I have no time for "Mr. Junior Pimp" types. As a result, I've had minimal grief from male partners.

As a matter of fact, I allow NO ONE at the shoot, unless they are working with me (which in itself is a rarity). I like to develop some trust with the model, and with her S.O. or best friend there, that leap of faith doesn't happen and when she leaves she doesn't trust me a smidgeon more than she did when the shoot started.

Also, never pay the model until after the shoot and never start the shoot without a signed release. Otherwise, nothing is stopping her from walking out the door (if you try to stop her, you'll likely be breaking the law and opening yourself to serious trouble). If you leave signing the release to the end of the shoot, you are open to her renegotiating the fee. (These lessons were learned early in my career, so heed them dearly.)

Don't begin until you have a basic understanding of the rules for documenting your model's age and keeping the required records.

If you are interviewing girls before you shoot them (and you should), be sure to check their age before you show them anything a minor shouldn't be shown. Otherwise, you might be open to "corrupting a minor" charges.
