Im with Jace on this one...while Im no real fan of free porn I dont see how this is any different than a TGP or an MGP really...just another tool I can use to get some traffic at the expense of my content going into the public domain...but at leasdt I dont have to pay anyone to put it there and I dont have to pay the bandwidth....

Pornotube isn't that different from TGP/MGPs...if you check the site, most of the videos right now are the smaller teaser videos sponsors are giving affiliates already.

It certainly doesn't help to have another avenue for free porn, but it's not like you can say shutdown this and not call for every other source of free porn on the net to be shutdown as well. A wait and see attitude is what should apply for the moment...as long as Pornotube has some regulations to stop what gets uploaded, etc. it's no different than an MGP.

It probably will change the role of affiliates...sponsors could dump their teaser clips on pornotube and the affiliate gets removed from the equation completely.

The original thread about pornotube last week, there were 100mb files in there. They now seem to have disappeared, as they read the thread.

Teaser clips are not 100mb, more like 500kb to 1mb. You may not be aware that they allow up to 100mb to be uploaded, which might change your views a little.

100mb is just a little bit of insanity, however, if the person does hold the copyright / 2257 info, and they basically want to ruin their site / program by giving a 100mb clip that still falls into the category of their own folly.

I'm looking at it this way, Pornotube can more or less usurp MGPs if it's done right and they're adopting the popular youtube format. As long as they make sure certain rules, etc, are followed and this doesn't become a haven for copyright infringement or illegal videos, it can be a good thing for certain industry players (the general affiliate could get screwed out of this system though).

Right now I think the jury is still out on it...they're beta testing, if when it goes live it's a disaster of copyright infringement, etc, I'm sure it won't take long before the lawyers are knocking at AEBN's door...if illegal videos are posted, I'm sure Alberto Gonzales will be knocking on their door, lol.

So, wait and see attitude at the moment from me. If it becomes a cluster-fuck of problems it'll implode on itself with no action required from webmasters.

Nawwwww Dre................come on now ..."surfer driven traffic" is and now the future...its started with p2p...the migration of surfers leaving traditional mgps/tgps and why not? What would you want to go to a mgp that has millions of people going to it, yet it seems to be a ghost town to the surfer, what i mean is the surfer now wants to be involved in the clips and comments, community etc....

We as webmasters and program owners need to "move" to the next level of doing business in adult..if not get another job.

That's really the only way to do it, really. I know smashbucks.com is one of the best when it comes to affiliate relationships, as this is not a small undertaking with thousands of affliates.

My thoughts are not many others would do that, and keep the full enchilada to themselves.

It's hard to compete in a total free for all, if only sponsors were allowed to UPLOAD content it would be a diff story, or affiliate allowed to describe and upload clips with their code/link would be fair and more profitable for everyone.

There are a number of ways to capitialize on these obvious user demands for both community/interactivity and free content.

Memberships seems to be dying as people want more .. either to collect tangibly or to share with friends. Viral content is powerful but as people trust privacy on computers/internet online they may want something they can view/hide offline as well .. plus tangibles like DVDs and customizably created content created by the user, compiled and sent to the consumer, tangibles are more difficult to charge back upon acquiring a signature or confirmation on delivery
