Network solutions anon DOMAIN bid

I helped a non-internet friend buy a domain about a month ago from directnic for his mainstream off net business, nothing special just a reg domain.. so a few eeks later he gets an email from network solutions.. Someone has offered him $1500 for the domain thru some private "bid" system where an anon person puts down the money to network solutions for them to offer it to you.. So to accept you have to transfer the domain to network solutions..

Now right off the bat im suspicious. mainly because i have been in this biz awhile and only once scored an unregistered domain that was worth anything especially not that much more

so my question is , has anyone heard of this before or had a domain bought thru this service ?

and of course my next question is have you ever heard of a scam like this ?

I had a similar situation, and everything went pretty smooth. If it's the same it is legit.

Yeah I was a bit leery at first too, but everything checked out, and received a check in the mail a week or two later.

I got one of those a few weeks back. Dug around and saw it looked legit..

Didn't accept it though.

I get tons of people asking for my 2 letter domain.
