I've found that Babelogger isn't very friendly with the search engines in comparison to wordpress, however I DO like babelogger for running simple blogs. Is there any ways out there to make Babelogger a more SEO friendly CMS to run a blog on?

yep with a few tweaks, its a good script out of the box, but you can make some nice mods to it.

i have hacked my babelogger to shit.

here are some of the mods i have added to it.

- search engine friendly urls
- hosted videos (external url or embed code)
- hosted pics
- our videos script
- our pics script
- our galleries script
- content page creating
- link manager
- display random links
- ratio submitting
- submit posts via admin
- ajax star based voting
- featured/chosen ones
- tags per post
- tag cloud based on tags
- user submit future post date
- restrict role to webmaster when user register
- top clicked content
- top in/out referalls
- user registration list with stats (submissions,clicks)
- rss feed autoposter

all those mods have no use if u have no traffic.

i guess free blogs have become the replacement for free hosting.

is hostpress any better? im looking to setup a free blogger site shortly.

no idea, never used hostpress, i use a custom backend for my sites, was sick of out of the box solutions

i just assumed hostpress was the biggest and most widely used.
is babelogger bigger? or just more open source? better supported upgrades/mods?

i assumed you were talking about babelogger, not wordpress, they have an example on 13scripts for doing it.

i was talking babelogger, i'll have to check out the addons, i didn't realize they had any right on their site, thanks. i have no idea where all this confusion about freehosting came into this. i'd like a search engine friendly URL feature for babelogger. i guess they have it, so good stuff!
