I haven't been able to figure him out. I know he claims he has 180 acres and house. My best guess is that if that is true he inherited it a few years ago and probably has second mortgages on it and is about to lose it or already lost it.

Thanks for the clarification sport...but the way I operate is when I "loan" money to someone I do not really consider it to be a "loan" as I am not in the business of loaning money. I do consider it to be an assisting hand to someone that is in need and if they give the money back to me at some point that is OK...but if they don't that is also OK. That is my "principle"...instead of whining about it on a public forum. Comprende?

Thats a great and considerate outlook. Myself, I do that very thing... for friends.

But when someone you dont know comes and asks you and at the same time they are asking you, they continue on explaining how they will pay you back within a couple of days... thats different... especially when they lie about the transaction...

If you don't expect it back you give them a gift. If they ask to "borrow" money then it is called a loan. ok sport ?

Even if I were to call it a loan when someone asked to borrow money...which I don't...and I expected to be paid back...which I don't...I would simply make a note not to "loan" that person anymore money...and would not be whining on a public forum about it...not matter what the sum. Over the years I have loaned/gifted one person well over $50,000 and he has always assured me that he would pay me back. Although he has paid me a $100 here and a hundred there he is about $50,000 short...but I will allow him to have another "loan" if and when he asks...as I like him. I have not been that generous with some others I have loaned/gifted money to.

Sorry sport...in your case I would not give you a loan/gift for any reason period...primarily because I do not like you. I think you are a small person with an over inflated ego.
