question: biggest network of American highways...

I'm working on a story idea. Can anyone tell me the biggest network of American highways to span deserted or relatively unpopulated locations? I can use your consensus as a jumping off point for some research.

Cheers.

I'm looking for a specific area which has little population. A network of highways passing through such a place.

Thanks for the answers so far.

I have a great idea but I can't structure it until I have a location.

All answers appreciated (except the ones that tell me to suck my own penis).

Okay, the least populated states are going to be North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, probably New Mexico and "maybe" Arizona. A lot of the states between the West Coast and the Midwest. You could also throw in Iowa, probably Minnesota, Missouri, Arkansas, etc. etc. LOL.

It really can be quite a long list. Anything east of the Mississippi River I would probably stay away from just because those areas are so much older and more densely populated. Also stay away from the California coast, but inner California would probably be okay. Use the Mississippi to the Pacific Coast as your starting point to search.

You've been a great help. That info is going to be invaluable. Thank you!

I'm lying here in bed about to spend an hour researching highways at 2:30 am.

I must be mad!
