How are your sales doing?

My new signups have been 50% off for a couple weeks now from the prior 6 months average.

I am above water on pretty much rebills. I am not complaining but wtf... I would think in an economic time of distress online surfers would pay more for porn!

How are your sales doing?? I blame the xsales WAY more then the economic turmoil we are faced with.

I have actually seen an increase as well. Not a lot, maybe about 15% this year.

Filter your traffic to the right niches. And make sure the niches are delivering.

If anyone needs ides on that, ICQ me.

Over all not good and any sponsor telling you otherwise might have an ulterior motive.

The monthly recurring are not good, 2 day trials and non recurring getting along fine. The members are telling us all very clearly what they want.

Live with it or live with nothing.

sales suck across the board, dont matter if its adult or mainstream clips or pay per view, im diversified enough to know anyone telling you its the same or better is full of shit (unless they now spend 10x more in marketing etc)

I just pulled my monthly stats last night. Everything is increasing for me - Traffic, sales, and ratios. However, during that same period I got very busy, going from one blog to fifty. Ratios are climbing too.

Last month was down about 1k (roughly 5%) but I wasn't promoting as heavily as I normally am. The start of the month (rent time) always sucks for me, yesterday being one of the worse. Back on track today though.

Not true. I spend $0 every month on marketing and generally always grow each month. Due to last month being so busy away from work I dropped a bit.

My affiliate sales are down. Way down. I was killing it the first half of Feb and then it's like someone turned off the spigot.

However, my paysite sales are up. Now, before you call me a liar, understand that my site is only like 7 months old. So, we really have nowhere to go but up. :-) My guess is that we're growing at a solid pace due to a lot of surfers seeing the site for the first time.

If you're considering replacing a sponsor, give our site a look around. If you think it'll convert your traffic, give it a shot. I don't know your traffic so I can't guarantee crazy ratios. I can guarantee that we rebill very well. I'd like to think that just the new-ness of the site alone would provide you quality ratios at first and then only time can tell how we do thereafter.

Thanks.

Actually what you are experiencing is EXACTLY what I've been seeing as well. As more and more review sites "educate" our surfers and explain to them what an affiliate program is....more and more surfers are skipping links and typing it in.

As an affiliate of over 300 programs out there...I can honestly say that I'm sending plenty of damn good REAL traffic. But can't make a sale to save my soul these days.
And yet...claudia-marie.com is kicking ass.

We did 33 new joins on March 1st for instance. No trials there either as we don't offer trial memberships. Of those 33 only 5 were from affiliates. 28 of them were type ins (my favorite)

Congrats to all the freesites out there who thought that educating the surfer would set them apart and earn them some kind of "trust"

I already had their trust on Grampland.Com from years of giving them the best links with no popups. Too bad they all know what affiliate programs are and how they work now. Kinda took the marketing strategy of "being a nice guy delivering free porn" away from me and handed it to....torrent sites and illegit tube sites.

Nice job guys!

Robbie, you trying to turn this into a drama thread? :-)

I gotta disagree with you a bit here. Freesites means review sites, right? Review sites don't tell people about affiliate programs and if they did, I don't think the surfer would care. They just want to see porn.

Are you saying a surfer sees a site from a link and they go "Hey, I saw a review site once that told me about these free sites and how people make money when I sign up for a site that they referred me to but I want to make sure no one but the site owner makes any money from me so I'm going to re-type this web-address in"?

what you are also forgetting is that many have figured out that almost all review sites are full of shit and they are affiliates themselves lol

my sites are not rated good on many reviews sites because my tours are not fancy enough lol (real reason is because I do not have PPS)

Not true at all. We spend very little on marketing and we gain evey day. I really don't know why, but yesterday we had our most signups since we launched our new program.

Steve, first of all you are completely wrong. They DO tell the surfer what affiliate program the site belongs to.

Secondly, I've been in the freesite and affiliate business longer than any of those guys that have review sites, and to your theoretical statements here...I say go to REAL surfer forums and do some reading that these poor ignorant surfers write there. Newsflash: They DO type in urls. Just like I always have done as a guy who always knew how affiliate programs work.

For instance, when I wanted to buy music gear...I would always sign up for the affiliate program first and THEN buy a new amp or guitar with my link and get some of my money back.

And no, I'm not trying to make a "drama" thread. This is business. Not drama. And it happens to be my specialty. If you don't agree, who cares? Continue on. It doesn't really matter anyway now.

But what I am saying is the exact reason why so many of us are hurting as affiliates...and meanwhile on the paysite side a lot of us just keep growing and growing.

How?

Type-ins. At least that's what's happening for me. Surfers have been given the keys to the kingdom as far as the affiliate model and the free site model goes.

No they don't. Good guys who made some good money when the whole review site gimmick first came out a couple of years ago.

They work hard and do a good job. But the whole "Let's educate the surfer and then make them think we are the good guys" part of the equation is/was/and always will be a mistake.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...no other business does that. Once you pulled back the curtain and showed that Oz is really just a normal person there is no going back. And the curtain has been pulled and all surfers are now aware of affiliate programs.

And it didn't start there. It started a few years before review sites existed. Back when programs were putting huge WEBMASTERS MAKE $$$ on their site tours and hosted galleries.

That was the beginning. And now we're kinda looking at the end for the affiliate. Only a few who can somehow figure a way to get around the fact that the entire free site business model has been destroyed will do well.

Remember...for those of you who have been in this business for less than 10 years...the reason a "free site" worked was it created the ILLUSION of a guy who just wanted to share all this free porn he had found. That was the main marketing strategy.

It still is. It's the one that worked for TGPs. It's the one that fuels a Review Site (Just super nice guys who took the time to review all these sites and make sure you don't join a shitty one). It's the concept behind blogging.

Yes, I know that each of those things work completely different. But the basics are still the same. Kinda like how "Star Wars" is really the same formula as a Cowboy movie. Just a different way to set the plate.

And now? Surfers now give that "he's a nice guy sharing his porn" status to...
Torrent Sites and Illegit Tubes.

And why not? Neither of those try to sell him a membership. And they give him everything for free. They don't see or care that the sites in question are making bank from prepaid spots. Why should they?

Just sayin', sometimes things backfire. And I think that exposing our business would have got you an "F" in Business 101

It's good to hear some business models are steady and weathering the storm...

I am def. changing gears on my business model. One is integrating cams with my models... have an opportunity rolling right now and hope to get it up in a couple weeks. My main reasoning is people want the sense of interaction with the girls.

Also, traffic profitting in general. Their are a shitload of webmasters getting a ton of traffic to their site and I know many are not getting the sales. My thought is to find a group of webmasters willing to offer promo's once in awhile for 2 sites for the price of 1. The idea is you have a large variety of different sites... you can have the option to offer different multi site deals. It's essentially a way to double your traffic, each site owner offers the same deal, and the idea is to better the conversions.

Just an idea. Their would be some programming and split sub-accounts required to make it work.
