dealers have prolly raped 80+% of the posters in this thread posting about how shitty it is for dealers.

but that's ok, cause they have to fall on the sword to complain about the president.

The main reason I am for programs like this is because it is rewarding those who have (most likely) paid into the system, have good credit (good enough for a car anyway) and they deserve some of their tax money back.

I dont like the mandate to crush the cars or the 13 pages of paper work or the fact that now that it is "successful" they decide to suspend it. Not to mention the length its taking to pay the dealerships back. This is where the failure part of the program kicks in. And gives people a look into the future of government run health care. It raises legitimate concerns.
Oh bullshit. If it would've taken until November for the original $1billion to be run through the program, would that be anymore success or failure? OK, they underestimated how many people would jump on this offer, fine. Boo fucking hoo for the dealers, they WILL get their cash. Just because people jumped 5x faster than expected, you expect the govt to automatically speed up 5x? Nope, it'll take the same amount of time it would've in the original outline, dealers went into this KNOWING that.

And dealers have to do paperwork, oh, heavens me, cry me a fucking river. Like I've never had to do paperwork for a car dealer. They got a fuckin shot in the arm, they should quit their whining.

Fair enough on the reward aspect you mention, I can see that perspective. As for the car crushing, I'm on the fence about that. It was meant to be an environmental program, so I understand wanting to get the cars permanently off the road (the ecology of car crushing is obviously debatable). I also can see the other side, there are people who can't get to the job they need because they can't afford a car. So, I don't know on that one.

I don't have ALL the answers, unlike most other people around here. But I shed not one tear for the poor car dealers.

The government said 10 days. They should own up to that. I dont care that they had to do paper work. But it takes MORE tax payer money for someone to go over the 13 pages. Wasted money. Shave down the paper work and you could work in more C4C deals.

My guess is that a fair amount of people that could afford a car and get a loan have paid their fair share of taxes.

WG
As of Thursday 1.9 billion (total) had been used and they announced the Monday 5PM shutdown in anticipation of strong weekend sales. CARS has been an overwhelming success that has accomplished exactly what it was designed to do. The intense public response was a shock to everyone involved.

The actual program "wind down" press release is here WG:
